Fifth Third bank promoted their credit card to me with a 0% APR for one year. Then they charged me a $35 over limit fee at the end of a month when the acct was under the limit but had been ove the limit one day, but the fee put it over the limit incurring another $35 fee they post at the end of the month and they did this three months in a row putting me over the limit with their fee each month and then charging another fee each month. Then they started charging me finance charges 6 months before the 0% APR expires. When I asked why they said they could not answer that question so I asked to speak to a supervisor and the customer service agent refused to put a supervisor on and then hung up on me. A 0% APR deal has now cost me $155 because I was over limit on just one day because of my own charges. Customer service sucks but the execs responsible for these kind of policies are nothing but white collar crooks and belong in jail.

As a person who lives near Cincinnati, I must add that if you read the information on the bbb's screen, it does not guarantee anything to anybody..I have filed a large complaint on a business here a few years ago and was told by the bbb to file with an attorney and I never received one red cent of my money..It's up to the company if they want to work with you and it sounds like the bank did even tho it was all your fault that you was over even one day..One day is one day..No one is privleged..So don't go promising that the bbb can get your money back..cause not all the time can it do that..It lets the company know of your complaint and they wait 30 days for an answer, not all the companies will write back..It may take several attemps to get an answer, if then..

The account was over the limit one month due to a mistake they made but under the limit every month for the whole month after that until at the end of the month they posted the $35 over limit fee from the month before putting the acct over the limit with their fee, thus incurring another over limit fee with their fee - that is not fair - why don't they charge the fee when the limit is broke. They did this for actually 4 months in a row. How can they use their fees to force new fees? And how can they change the advertised 0%APR for one year to 18% in midstream. Obviously they must have thought something was wrong to credit all the fees and interest.

You admitted that you went over the limit, and then the fee caused another over the limit at the end of the month. While I believe the government is taking steps to stop some of their most abusive practices, I don't see the ripoff here.
You have to pay the balance down so it's below the limit at the end of each month. That will stop the ongoing fees.

Well the BBB in Cincinati has some real pull with Fifth Third!!

After complaining to a half dozen people at Fifth Third I told them they left me no choice but to file complaints with the FTC, my Senators and Representatives and any other organization I could find to complain to. I did so including a complaint to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) in Cincinnati where Fifth Third is headquartered. The BBB had a record of 39 complaints against 53 bank all of which were resolved!! This was quite different outcome from the hundreds, maybe thousands of unresolved complaints I found on internet sites including Ripoff report's website. So guess what - one week after I filed with the BBB my complaint was resolved and the bank reversed $175 in fees and $30 in finance charges returning me to a 0% APR for 6 more months!! BBB record now 40/40, batting 1000 against Fifth Third! !
So if you want Fifth Third to listen to you - everyone!!!- file a complaint with the BBB in Cincinnati - use the website for Fifth Third (www.53.com) when asked what company you are complaining about and pick the Cincinnati headquarters.
I'd like to see hundreds of complaints filed in one day with the BBB!
