I see I am not the only one who has been caught up in this scam!! I answered an ad in the local paper that offered $20 for display and set-up. I went to the mass interview as everyone else did. I called in later that day and found out that I was accepted for the position and to report the next day to start my orientation.

Orientation was like none I had ever been to. they had a guy there by the name of Nate. he was a motivational speaker. he got everyone really pumped up and believing that yes...I can do this! I figured it was worth a shot and if I didn't give it a try I would kick myself later. So I sat thru the orientation and listened to everything they had to say.

I was so excited when I heard that you could have a flexible schedule. work 9-5. they set up all of your appts for you. they close the deals and do the actual sales end of it. this is great!! Boy was I wrong!

They tell you on Thursday that this weekend you have to do 10 demos. these demos are with your friends and family. you have to set up the appts! Ughhh. I hate asking my friends and family for stuff like this. But I did the 10 demos, and actually sold 2! I thought. this isn't all that bad, or is it?? We were told that if we did the demos. we would be paid that coming week!

We go to the office for the first day. I walk into a tiny, grungy building. no sign outside. stale cigarette smoke in the air. absolutely disgusting! The owner, Kevin Mathers proceeds to go over all the specifics of the company.

Now we find out that they only schedule appts at: 1pm, 4pm, and 7pm! Wait. what happened to 9-5?? You must do 25 appts in 2 weeks in order to get paid. ok. Well he hands us slips for the appts that the office has set for us and away we go. We show up to the first appt. over 45 minutes away. get the door slammed in our face. Go to the next appt do our demo. but the lady is not interested. now when I call back in to let Kevin know. he wants me to pressure the lady into buying! (in training we were told that we don't have to do the sales end. and if we are pushy at all with the customers we lose our job)

She wasn't interested. and she didn't have that kind of money!! We go to the third one and we again get a door slammed in our face! Great. we now are realizing that there is no way that we will possibly get 25 appts done! (and yes, you must get in the door and do the whole demo for it to count!) So basically they are asking you to go out and do all of this knowing full well that you will never get 25 appts done. you will probably sell a couple systems. and they pocket all the profit!

So you are working for FREE!

I started to pick up on this scam when I noticed that there was another ad in the paper starting the process all over again!! They run this in 2 week cycles, knowing that is how long it will take for people to figure out they are getting scammed!

I am still waiting for a paycheck!! It has been over two weeks from the time we were told we would get paid! I have made phone calls and all I get is, I'll check into it!!

And to top it all off. he sold a USED system to my MOM, claiming it was NEW! I am trying to work with FilterQueen direct on this issue. but not getting very far!

So if you see an ad like this in the paper, RUN, don't be fooled like I was!

They almost got me too

AUTHOR: Suzi - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 12, 2007

On Sunday I saw a similar ad in my local newspaper. The ad was titled "Distribution Center" - $11.65 to $14.75 to start. The ad goes on to say..."National Manufacturer has recently opened a local distribution center. 45-50 full-time permanent positions available in several departments. No experience needed - complete training provided. Rapid advancement to management positions. No lay-offs - full time work. If you are dependable, hardworking, and can start work immediately , Call Monday.

I live in the Youngstown, Ohio area. This is a rust belt town and an ad like this is sure to get a huge response. Indeed it did. I called the number, repeatedly, for over 20 minutes before I got through. I was given an appointment for Tuesday.

I showed up and it was a "cattle call" type deal. There were about 25-30 people there.

We were told the name of the company is DnA. We were told that they are the only air filtration system in the world that has received FDA approval. We were all asked to fill out a one page application. We were then give a 15 minute "presentation" by Daryl. We were told the history of the company and a little about the product.

We were told that there were only 10-15 warehouse jobs that would be available in January. We were told that they were currently looking for air quality testers to service their clients, which includes, schools, hospitals, doctors offices, etc. We were told if we were interested in the air quality jobs we would be interviewed and called that evening if we would be asked back the next day for a second interview. We were told if you did not receive a second call, it means you were not selected for the second round. If you were interested in the warehouse jobs in January we were told your applications would be passed on to the corporate headquarters.

I was interested in the air quality tester job and was called back for a second interview. I went to the second interview, which was another group session.

There were approximately 15-20 people there. The whole deal took two hours.

At this "interview" we were told that we would NOT be servicing corporate clients -
only residential.

We were told that we would WORK FOR THE COMPANY. Later during the "interview' we were all given W9 forms instead of W4 forms to fill out. W9 forms are for Independent Contractors. Independent Contractors are considered self-employed and do not work for the company.

This is when the bells really went off for me. They went off before, but this was the cincher for me.

We were told that we must complete 13 hours (2 days of 6.5 hours) of classroom training where we would be "certified" to take air quality samples.

We were told that we would have to make 10 presentations over the weekend from Fri-Mon. We were told that we could make a sale.

We were told that we would be given $450 per week + a bonus for every unit we sold that exceeded the $450 amount. We would also get profit sharing.

MANAGEMENT potential was heavily pushed during this meeting. We were told so many inconsistencies. First that you could only make management after you worked 90 days in sales. Then when it seemed that peoples' interest was waning, we were told that he (Daryl) could make us managers IMMEDIATELY if he wanted to. He said if we sold a bunch over the weekend that would weigh heavily on his decision to make someone a manager immediately.

We were told that all our appointments are set for us and that we have to make 15 presentations a week in order to qualify for the $450. Full presentations.

This is a scam, folks. I am supposed to go back tomorrow morning for "training." He could tell I would not come back, so I'm sure he won't be surprised.

I tried to look up DnA last night. There is NOTHING on the internet about this company. Today I asked him for the website. He would not give it in the group. He gave it to me afterwards during the so called interview portion of the meeting.

I looked it up: www.filterqueen.com. The parent company is Health-Mor. Health-Mor distributes it's products via independent owner operators like DnA. This company goes by MANY names.

This is a huge scam. They want you to work for free and give them free access to your family and friends. I now wonder if the references I listed on my application will be marketed to. I say that because there was only spaces provided for names and addresses of references, and not phone numbers. I bet they all get unexpected "visits" from someone trying to sell them one of these products.

I see that their tactics change depending on location and the hook that will get the most attention for the people in that particular area. We are an old steel town, so the hope of a manufacturing job here sends people into a frenzy.

There should be a way to stop these folks from placing false ads and wasting peoples' time like this.

Beware that anyone asking you to sign a W-9 is NOT putting you on their payroll.

Don't waste your time with these people. This is a huge scam.
