In June of this year, I was contacted by this company claiming to be able to recoup missing funds from overpayment of my property tax.  I signed the Homestead Exemption form they provided and their other paperwork with guarantees I would be getting copies of the paperwork in the mail at a later time.  I was assured my paperwork would be filed and I would receive my money in 6-8 weeks and that there would be no cost to me whatsoever.  Their fees were supposed to come from another source.  It's even stated on their website at http://fsgonline.org/reports.html.

8 months afterward, I still had not received anything from them.  I called and left a message for Ken Graham, the person that met with me and had me sign forms, that was never returned.  I called the Dallas County Appraisal district and found out that my form had not been filed.  I printed the Homestead Exemption form, filled it out, had it notarized, and mailed it in myself.  3 weeks after I mailed in my form, the exemption was registered with the county.

I didn't receive the copies of the forms I had signed with this company and I did not receive any recouped money.  They did not perform the service they said they were going to do.  I received a collection letter from this company this week stating that I owed them the full amount of the recouped money ($486.69) and that my account was delinquent.  They say in the letter that they would settle for half the amount of my Homestead exemption and would close out my file.  Messages were left with them, but none were returned.

This is a scam to cheat new home buyers out of their refund.  I'll also be filing a complaint with the BBB.

Not supposed to get a refund

AUTHOR: chipig - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 24, 2010

I contacted the county tax office to see if an Application for a Tax Refund had even been filed for my address.  They said nothing had been filed and I was not even supposed to receive a refund of any kind.  So, basically, Ken Graham from Financial Services Group is trying to collect money from me for a refund that was non-existent to begin with.
