With rare exception, every time something has to be fixed or looked at this company can't even find their own contractors.

1 They lost their contractor for multiple weeks when my whole house fan went out, then finally just had to send a new one out because they never did get ahold of the guy. First guy came out, said the motor was seized up and it was cutting its own fan belt, brought down the fan belt for me to see. Then the second guy comes out, I tell him what the first guy did, and he reports back that the reason it isn't work is because the motor is seized up, but there's no fan belt. So First Am says that it needs a new fan belt and that'll fix it!

2 Hot water heater dies, but they won't touch it because it has a wire out of code... so I have to spend $300 with an electrician to rewire it for them to replace a $20 thermostat? I just learned how to replace it myself, but then what's the point of the home warranty?

3. Air conditioner has an issue, both of them. But they can only send out one repair at a time (it's the same house, but that doesn't matter) so I have to take time of work twice for the same guy to do the same thing to the second unit when he could have just done it while he was there the first time.

4 Now the heater went out, they sent out one contractor who said it needed to be replaced. But noooo, need a second opinion. After a week of phone tag with them, they schedule a second contractor. He comes out (Unlimited Heating and A/C in Atlanta) and says it needs to be replaced. But he fails to turn in his paperwork. They can't find him for another 10-14 days. Then they need to send him out a second time, more time off work, etc. The guy already told them it needs to be replaced but he lost his sheet with the model number (already on the first report. It's a 25 year old unit, it's not like they can find the same unit to replace it with). So he has to come back out just to send in another report to replace a stinkin $350 window unit. They would have spent less money just replacing it right off the bat!

I've had American Home Shield before this and never had any of these problems. They were always prompt and never lost their own contractors! Maybe they're so crappy they can't get the good contractors but for all the time I've taken off of work to get all this nonsense resolved it would have been cheaper for me to do all this stuff on my own.
