I purchased a 36month 36000mile warranty for a used 1997 pontiac Firebird with 77000 miles on it roughly 3 months after I purchased the car the transmission gave out 2 months after that well the warranty company told me to take it to Aamco (and yes Aamco tried to rip me off also but I did not let them) around 5 months later while going down the freeway at 70mph the engine died while streaming a cloud of smoke now this car is maintained regularly and gave no warning at all just BOOM!

I had the car towed back home and then to my local Pontiac dealer (no more Aamco types for me) the next day the mechanic tells me that the timing gear sheared off from the cam and everything went into the oilpan breaking a connecting rod in the process and that it will need a new engine Well the warranty company said that they will have to send out an inspector to look at the damage

The first inspector came out and he said he could not come to a conclusion as to the failure (The warranty company was trying to say that I was "hotrodding" the car this is not the case at all) because the oilpan had not been removed

So I authorized another 5 hours labor to remove the engine so they could remove the oilpan
when the oilpan and engine were removed they sent out another inspector who said that he could not determine the cause of failure other than a failed part
The service manager told me that they will have to pay the claim but will most likely put in a used engine
well after 5 days the warranty company kept blowing me off after repeated attempts to call them and find out when my car was going to be approved so I can get a rental etc.

The service manager of the dealership gets a call and tells me that they are refusing the claim because I purchased my warranty after I purchased the car ???????
this after 6 months of so-called warranty coverage and 1 repair paid by them I see no where in the contract that says this warranty must be purchased at time of vehicle purchase

So as it stands I owe around 1100 dollars for tear down fees my car is in 20 large pieces (they take the engine out from the bottom suspension and all) and a warranty that has screwed me over big time

I will be talking to an attorney ASAP here in Dallas

STAY AWAY FROM FIRST AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE CORPORATION!
