First Care medical insurance Covenant Health Value co-pay rip off for ER visit Richardson/Lubbock Texas

I am insured by First Care health insurance and have been for 5 years. On 05/19/2017 I checked into the ER at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.  I offered the clerk my insurance card but she said she didn't need it. When it was time to be released a woman with a computer on a rolling cart came by, and says, " How are you going to pay for this?" I gave her a credit card, she ran it, I didn't sign anything, they gave me some paperwork and I went home. Then, I discover they charged $ 500.00 to the card. My insurance card lists an ER visit co-pay at $ 150.00. Very clear, no mistake. $ 150.00. I called First Care to ask what was going on. I was told the deductible was raised to $ 500.00 to keep people from using the ER who really didn't need to be there. I told them I was never notified of the deductible increase, and they didn't tell me when I checked in, so how, if you don't tell someone what the new deductible is, they aren't aware of the option to go to urgent care, so? The ER cannot turn anyone away. People with no insurance still go to the ER,they don't care how much it costs because thet don't pay. What First Care is really doing is gouging the paying customers to make up for the uninsured. To add insult to injury they withold information from the customers, and " take " your money. Sneaky, low class, and lying by omission.
