First Consumer Debt Management, also known at the websites http://www.first-consumer.com and http://www.susdeudas.com , is a debt management company that functions as an affiliate, referring you to either debt settlement or debt consolidation companies and they take their cut.

I've never used their services, so I won't be saying anything negative about the services they provide to customers, but I know they have no problem with ripping off their employees, or ex-employees.

I interviewed with them and spoke with the owner, named Paul Siska, and his assistant Rod Delahanty, and I was clear in the interview that I don't do outbound sales, period. Never have, never will. I am ok with inbound sales, and they both assured me all calls are incoming. They even compared it to customer service with "soft-selling".

At the end of the first week of training is when they sprung on us the news that we'd in fact be placing outbound calls to external leads purchased from some lead broker with the leads being as old as 30 days. That's exactly what I said I WON'T do in the interview, and I was assured it wouldn't be part of the job, but they didn't care, so I left and never came back.

During the interview and even during training it was confirmed that pay is $400 a week, and training is paid as well, so after a month and a half or so passed without pay, I contacted them and asked why I haven't received my pay for the week of training, and they said, get this, that "since I didn't work the 4 weeks after training, I'm not entitled to the paid training". Ridiculous!

By that logic, someone would have to work about 6 weeks straight with no pay before they get their first paycheck, just to make sure they "work the 4 weeks after training". It's a blatant scam if I've ever seen one, since this was never said during any interviews, training, or anything, though I'm sure they'd have no problem lying about it or falsifying and editing some papers to make it seem like it was in plain sight all along.

Point is, the company likes to bait and switch their employees, hiring them under false pretenses, and if that's how they treat their employees, I leave it up to you to decide how they probably treat their customers.

*I will update this post if I ever get paid my $400, otherwise, there it is.

Dictionary definitions?

AUTHOR: JM - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, February 15, 2010

Since we're dropping dictionary definitions, scam is also defined as "to swindle someone; to deceive someone". I was deceived by being told in the interview that the position was purely inbound, and then a bait and switch takes place and it's purely outbound. You think $400 is worth a week of wasted time? You think everyone is that desperate for a job that they'd take just about anything?

I want people to know the type of operation First Consumer is, plain and simple. $400 is nothing, and if I wanted to I could theoretically cost the company a LOT more than $400 considering your company business is obtained almost solely through Pay-Per-Click, but that's fraud and something I'd never do.

There is a difference between leaving and not showing up

After reading this report, I, as Sales Manager, am glad that this person never showed up to work.

Twisting the facts and applying his logic in an illogical way is what we dont need in an employee.

We have a training period that include a full week in classroom and after that work in training. This person never worked he took advantage of one week of training. He never spoke with a prospect, a requirement of the job, he didnt even use the desk we prepared for him.

He never left. He never showed up to work, which is a different story. He never responded to our numerous phone calls or emails asking for an explanation of not showing up.

He writes about scam. Scam by the dictionary is a confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, esp. for making a quick profit. Which scam are we talking about when we spent a week of resources to transfer knowledge without asking for any retribution?

Again I am glad this person is not representing First Consumer Debt Management.

First Consumer Debt Management

AUTHOR: PSiska - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, February 12, 2010

This is the first time in our 5 year history as a company that someone has gone to write something negative about us.  We have served over 30,000 customers and had over 75 employees through those years.   The complaint I am rebutting herein refers to an ex employee who is claiming pay that he is not entitled to.   While it is true that this employee partook of one week training with us, the fact is that following the training, he never showed up the following Monday, nor he bothered to call or notify us of his decision not to continue to work with us.   We have a standard policy of paid training provided that employees commit to the full training period, which is considered completed after 30 days.  The first week of training is class room training, where we spend a great deal of resource and knowledge and want to make sure that we don't do this without fair expectations of someone being productive with us.   This policy is clearly spelled out in our Employee Handbook, which every new employee is given, including Mr. Jeffrey Musamante, the employee who wrote this unfair and inaccurate accusation.   In an industry with a high turnover rate, we are happy to say that ALL our current employees have been with us over 18 months.  This is in my opinion a testament to the way we deal with our most valuable resource - our employees.
