I opened a account for a business with first convenience bank over a year ago with a balance of 20.00. The amount is not substantial as i am filing this complaint so to protect other depositors with large balances. Due to unseen circumstances i decided not to open up the business that this account pertained to. I went to the first convenience bank on tatum and bell to close the account down and they told me due to inactivity the money in the account was forfieted. Trying to plead with them on this policy i told them this is not the type of customer service that makes banks operate. The teller then replied that banks make money on fees not customer service. How absurd. Then he told me to make a complaint against the blank and here i am writing this. The issue is for me not the 20.00 as this is a small amount, The teller told me if there is inactivity for a year the whole account is forfieted period. Some one might be in for a rude awakening with a larger amount in the account.

Thet were rude and said i have no recourse with the bank. Stay with (((REDACTED))) or any other banking institution and watch your step when dealing with these clowns.

Inactive accounts...

AUTHOR: Striderq - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, November 04, 2014

Accounts are inactivated after a set number of months with NO customer generated activity. Up until this year, any money that was in the accounts was turned over to the state Department of Revenue and listed as unclaimed money. The account owner(s) could then recover the money. However this year there was a drastic change to the law concerning what happens to the money. The bank did NOT get the money. The federal government now gets all money from inactive accounts. Of course, there's no telling what they're doing with this untracked revenue sorce. But your beef should be with the feds not the bank.

By the way, even though it was only $20, why did you take so long to request it after deciding not to open the business it was set up for???

So because YOU cant be bothered to even go in to the bank to even check on YOUR account within ONE YEAR, THEY are the bad guys keeping the $20.00. Don't you think the bank has EARNED that $20.00?? YOU haven't even discussed what FEEs you had for this account. So that $20 may have gone to pay that. BUT NO!!!!! THEY must be the bad guys because YOU are a slacker. after 365 days+ that money is gone. Its no different then YOU finding a 20 laying on the ground. Im betting YOU wouldn't be looking for the previous owner of said 20. YOU would consider yourself lucky while someone else gets screwed.
