First Data PCI Compliance scam Simi Valley, California

I've recently started getting hit with the dreaded PCI compliance fees from First Data, which apparently some other companies are charging as well.  There's an annual fee of $119, followed by monthly $29 fees.  I've contacted a representative whom quickly explained they have the right to change fees without notice.  The argument being, this isn't a change... it's a NEW fee.  Of course this is like hitting a brick wall with them.  I just wanted to cancel my contract after several pointless conversations, in which they explained I'll be charged a respectable "early cancellation fee."

Here's why I call it a scam over anything:  All the research I have done (after the fact, of course) shows people complaining about these surprise fees all the way back to 2008.  I signed up in 2010... this means First Data ABSOLUTELY knew they were charging these fees 2 years before I signed up.  They claim it's a recent change to the fees.

Does anybody else find it odd that such a big fee, followed by monthly fees would not make it into a contract after 2 years of them requiring it?  Sure is sleazy this was never brought up to me until after I was locked into the contract as an "after-the-fact" and then tell me I can't cancel that now altered contract.

This is a bait and switch when they've known about the fees for several years, but fail to place them into a contract, knowing you'd never sign with them... then hit you the minute it's too late for you to back out.  I am shocked no attorneys have jumped on this!
