I purchased the powertrain extended warrantee when I bought my 2001 Saab 95 in October 2006. The car ran great until the oil pump went out while I was on the highway in August of 2008. Within miniutes my motor was gone. I was happy that I had the extended warrantee, but disappointed when I learned that First Extended would put a salvaged motor in my Saab.

After nearly 3 weeks and a multitude of problems because the Pontiac dealership where I purchased the Saab had no idea how to work on Saabs, I recieved my car back. I noticed right away that I had a dirty worn looking engine and my car smelled of oil. I thought the smell of oil was due to the filthy engine and it would go away after time. After 2 months and 2400 miles (and the smell making me and my riders sick) I took it in. I was told that the head gasket was blown, the oil pan and a multidude of other parts of the engine were leaking oil and I needed yet another engine.

After the Pontiac dealership called First Extended Warrantee Service Corporation they notified me that the company would not replace the motor, but infact repair it. They had it another 7 days. would also like to mention that the service technician mentioned that the oil in the engine looked like mud and there is no telling where and what the engine had been through. (My previous engine was always spotless and the oil was crystal clear-the day it was brought in the only thing in the oil was shredded metal from the destroyed engine where the oil pump had gone bad)

Now, January 2009 just a couple of weeks since my Saab's last visit to the Pontiac dealership and the replaced headgasket and much of the engine, I am still smelling oil! I took the car back in on January 9th to find that infact my Saab is still leaking oil. The head gasket is leaking profusely, the turbo is leaking oil and the oil indicator is also leaking. The indicator thing is not covered but the headgasket and turbo are covered. The technician who works on my car wants me to pay an additional $110.00 for a oil regulator kit that will help control the amount of oil that passes through the motor and lessen the leaking around the head gasket. My concern is that why am I paying for a "kit" to control leaking if they are supposed to be fixing the problem (that should have been fixed in the first place)??

I feel that my once perfect car has been ruined by non-Saab mechanics, who I have been forced to use for warrantee work. The first time they put the salvage motor in they could not get it running and told me my transmission was gone, but then they took it to a Saab dealership who said they had wires crossed! I think my car is ruined because of this salvage motor and unexperienced technicians... What can I do?
