Got letter saying URGENT - APPROVED and called to inquire.

I was a victim of stolen identity in 1994 (before people really knew much about it) It has taken me years to finally get the false reporting off my Credit Report. After ALL these years I began resarch on how to rebuild my credit.

After doing some web inquiries - I got this in the mail. I thought it was from my own efforts.

They really DO seem strange at first glance, but still real enough that you proceed. But, still I had my doubts. SO, I gave them a checking account number from an account I keep for the purpose of only ordering web purchases or food in case of fraud - so, I would just close the checking account.

Well, I GAVE them that information. Wrote very thorough notes on how to say I do not want the service "after I have reviewed the materials they are going to send me".

Then - I came here to read this information.

I then tried to call every single number on the forms. Of which I had 3: 800-277-7056 (to activate card) or 702-734-1212. And the new number he (Jason Lastra) gave me to call for any questions 800-642-1760.

Not one single number picks up. It rings endlessly then clicks over to a message saying all circuits are busy.

So, Not being able to make contact, I immediately contacted my bank who told me they did not feel anything but ONE thing could protect me from them. To close my checking account.

So, I did just that. And, I was told to write letters and send to the business, (CCA) and the Las Vegas authorities, both by mail and certified.

I also will be sending a copy to the fraud department of my bank. (I learned from stolen identity that these things DO go on your record and it helps when you need to combat a bad credit report later).

I have not heard on here from anyone that CCA actually tries to file a bad credit report against someone if they don't pay.

If anyone has already made contact with the proper authorities in Las Vegas I would love the contact.

I will write more here after I learn what I can this Monday /Tuesday.

Any additional info, I would love to get an e-mail:

Sorry for all of us that this has happened. But, remember for every bad person out there doing this to us, there are many many more people out there who are kind, and honest and sincere.

PS. If anyone is in the Los Angeles area -- I found a woman who is sincere and helps clean up credit reports. (my real estate agent uses her).

So, if you are needing to rebuild your credit - the first thing to do is get your cedit report cleaned up.

I have also learned that a co-signed car loan is a good way to go.

Or a secured credit card (which is what I did ). Providian - and they never did anything dishonest to me.

Good luck.
