I received a letter from First National Collection Bureau, Inc. attempting to collect monies on an account that had been paid in full some 6 years prior.  I was given 30 days to dispute the validity of the debt; if not,  the debt would be considered valid.   Every attempt made to contact the company via the number listed on their notification sent was unsuccessful as a result of a continual busy signal.

Write, Don't Call

Send them a debt validation letter (samples available online) Certified Mail. Save a copy of the letter and the return receipt. Calling is pointless because they'll just insist you owe them money and you'll walk away with zero proof that you disputed the debt. Proof you'll need if these bottom-feeders do try to take you to court.
