This company is a rip-off. I was issued a credit card from this company only to find hidden charges after i accepted the card. They gave me a $250 credit limit but took $178.00 of the $250.00 dollar limit for supposed "set up account fees" leaving me an available balance of $72.

When i called to complain about the set up fees i was told "that's because we are a credit establishing credit card." after I received the credit card the very next day I received a bill in the mail telling me that in 10 days i had a monthly payment of $20 due in 10 days! When I tried to call and cancel this card i was transferred to a rude customer service rep who tried to make me feel about 2 inches tall telling me it was my fault that I accepted the credit card and used it. I had charged $2.98 on the card and was told if i paid the $2.98 they could cancel my card.

I was transferred again since they knew I was trying to cancel to get another rep who told me that if i tried to cancel the credit card after paying the $2.98 that i would still be charged the $178.00 for account processing fees! be aware to anyone who even thinks about signing with this company there fees are outragous and there customer service skills stink.

Interested in Class Action against First Premier

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 04, 2005

For Holly - Beaverton, Oregon,

I also have an issue with First Premier Bank not fullfilling promises made in advertising, as they have promised to report to "All four credit reporting agencies". For over a year, I have maintained my account with First Premier perfectly: Never late, never over my limit, always paid at least the minimum due. They have not reported my credit to Experian, Equifax, nor Transunion for over a year! I have written to them twice, even gave them 90 days as requested in their first letter to resolve this, and this is still not fixed. They have not responded to a second letter nor a BBB complaint.

If I can fit into the scope of the Class Action suit, I give ripoffreport.com my permission to release my email addess and any other contact information only to you. I would LOVE to see First Premier set back a few notches for what they have tried to do to people who have maintained a First Premier account in good standing.

Premier Credit Card Scam indeed ....

AUTHOR: Holly - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 19, 2005

If Premeire were not a scam - why does the webpage for online account access load search engine advertising unrelated to the account ?
ANd the links to click on load no pages when you try to log in or pay payments or view your account statement ??? Hmmmm interesting.

My husband just accepted this offer, received in the mail the first statement 6 days after accepting the account. We read ALL of the fine print and knew of the charges in advance - and agreed to it BUT....

We also "opted out" of the mandatory adhesion clause for arbitration by certified mail within the 30 day time frame (proof of signature required) - JUST IN CASE they were trying to scam consumers.

I am glad we did because we received a phone call today stating that the account was now 30 DAYS past due and that they were charging a 50 dollar late fee and that it also took the account over-limit (so of course there would be an overlimit charge for the account as well). The statement date sent out was September 19th, 2005 - TODAY IS October 18th, 2005. PAST DUE ? CAN YOU EXPLAIN THAT ???

Since the account was only opened 30 days ago ???

Who ever I spoke to (called herself Terra) and additionall when asked stated that there was no call back phone number to where she was at (Hmmm no phone number to fix associated problems with the account) ???

Additionally, if you do your research - you will find - that they are very closely (almost illegally so) related with the credit reporting company Experian. Maybe an off shoot of or sister company to the credit reporting agency...

FCRA NO-NO....

Luckily I have filed a complaint with the Oregon Justice department on consumer fraud about this company and will be taking them to court in OREGON because they cannot force us to "arbitrate" in an out of state underground arbitration forum (south dakota or somewhere of there choosing)

Oh and the arbitration companies are clients of the credit card issuers... they "bank" all of the credit issuers "default" cases through one particular arbitration association, which sides with the credit furnisher (regardless of your "prepayed response filings to the arbitration proceeding".

You see I've been through this before and won.

Consumers will wise up soon enough... they just have to lose by dealing with these snakes and reap the damaged credit and hassle of their aggressive and unethical tactics first (Victimized) before people get smart and sue the s**t out of them.

Class action anyone ??? (yes you still can even though they put the unilateral waiver that you cannot file class action against them for any reason) which you agreed to in the fine print when you accepted the card.

Try as they might - the cannot take away your constitutional right to consumer protection by the federal government.

By the way - this is all happening and we haven't even used the card yet !!! And now will not at all.

Absolutely ridiculous and an outright Bold Scam.

yep..."Heather is clearly an employee of these sharks"

AUTHOR: Heather - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 13, 2004

To the poster that said "Heather is clearly an employee of these sharks" i am an employee but I am not employeed by sharks. I would like to add that if I didn't believe in this company, i would not work for them. IF they sent people invitations for a credit card without the OPPORTUNITY to know what this card was all about, i would not work at this place. I however like where i work and i actually have a First Premier card.

I'm 19 and first premier was the only company willing to give me a chance. granted they make alot money off of me but eventually i will be able to get cards with better terms and conditions. and i'm more than willing to pay that price because this is the "real deal" it WILL improve your credit score if you give it a chance. this is just a stepping stone that will enable me get my credit score higher than it is.

Also, I realize that this offer is not for everybody, but don't be posting that first premier is a scam etc when they are really a great company, it's just you that chose to not read what you were signing up for...

The reason sleaze bags are in SD is because like the other dirt ball State, Delaware, they have no usury laws and a very business friendly climate. Avoid doing business with banks sending you mail from these sleazy States.

Heather is clearly an employee of these sharks

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 12, 2004

Reputable lenders do not charge set up fees. Over $170 for a $250 limit is outright predatory. I'd sue if I were you. Also, credit card applications are a unilateral contract of adhesion. The writer bears the of contract is required to make sure you understand "THEIR" terms. Get your money back girl. Make some noise and these skunks will run.

Heather... you all depend on the fine print.

AUTHOR: Darren - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 12, 2004

Heather,
I can understand your concerns about people not reading the fine print... however, that is what your company is counting on... that they don't read, or can't even begin to understand the fine print.

If your company were to also mention clearly these things as well as ask why they chose this card, you would be amazed... Yes, you are supposed to ask why these people are calling... to measure the effect of their advertising (called lying in any other venue).

There are lies of comission (where I tell you that they sky is green) and omission (where I don't tell you something that you really need to know but don't want you to find out).

Now, not with your company, but another one, I had a secured credit card... I used it and I paid. Everything was great until they sent me a mailing saying that I could have upto $5000.00 unsecured credit card. All for a processing fee of $85! Sure, I filled it out and sent it back.

About a month later they upped my credit limit $200 on my credit card. I called and asked what happened... and they said that it was UPTO $5,000. I told them there was no way I was paying $85 for an increase of $200 on my card. To cancel and I was tearing up the card.

They did not charge me and I have kept the origianl card and still use it.

If your company (and others like yours) would use the bold to put the actual terms on the front and explain it in CLEAR english then there might not be so many complaints. Sure, there wouldn't be as many suckers, but the customers you had would be informed and have no room to complain.

As long as your company makes it seem as though you are offering them something that is more than what you are then don't be surprised when they complain. People (rightly) get upset when they feel they have been taken advantage of... and not all of your customers are going to be coming to you with a college degree in finance or law.

As my 13 year old son always says, "I blame the public educatin system." and I am agreeing with him more and more. Our children need to learn about the predators out there that use "fine print" to take advantage of them. Cynical and sad yes... but it is in response to companies that are willing and able to take advantage of anyone that they can by being intentionally vauge and misleading and then blaming the consumer.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Please read your offer people!!

AUTHOR: Heather - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 12, 2004

First off, First Premier is a great company. It is a credit card that helps in rebuilding your credit profile. This card reports monthly to the 4 major credit bureau's where other credit cards report only quartley and to only 1 bureau.
what I would like to advise is that you read your letter and offer that was sent to you! in EVERY application is a tri-fold that explains ALL of the fees that come along with the card.

If for some reason you didn't receive that paper that explains all the fees, right on the main offer there is wording IN BOLD LETTERS PLEASE SEE IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE ABOUT FEES, RATES, AND OTHER LIMITAIONS. so if you "don't care" or don't inquire about what you are signing up for, that is not our problem. I work for a third party affiliate of first premier. we take all the applications. about half of the people don't even read their offer! all they read is 9.9 percent apr blah blah blah and don't even read what they are calling to sign up for!

I'm sorry but this is exactly why you were sent this application in the first place. you see 9.9 and "you are pre-approved" and think oh my goodness i just HAVE to have this card! in our script we ask, "may i ask what interested you in applying for our gold mastercard today?" more that 80% say "I was pre approved" or "i just got it in the mail" I know that you must get dozens of offers in the mail so do you sign up for every credit card that comes your way? and to make things clear, you were informed that there was a $72 credit when you received the card. so it IS YOUR fault you used the card. if you didn't like the limit or the fees you could have canceled. you can cancel and have the fees reimbursed within 30 days of receiving your cardholder contract before making other charges to the account. there are no canceling fees, so WHY didn't you cancel your card? and to the Original poster, THERE ARE _NO HIDDEN FEES!_ EVERYTHING, I REPEAT EVERYTHING WAS SENT TO YOU! IT'S YOUR CHOICE IF YOU WISH TO READ IT OR NOT!!
Thank you!
