I recieved a letter today with a last name I havent had since my divorce in 1994 stating I owed $5869.44 and that I was fully aware of it and they were allowed to attach my wages, bank account and real estate. I have no clue who these people are and since any debt that old is so far past the statute of limitations its beyond insane.

I was declared disabled in 1998 and it was backdated to my appeal date in 1996 and the federal government forgave my student loans upon being declared permanently disabled and now these jerks are threatening a disabled person. I get food stamps and LIEP as well as soc sec and have not even had a credit card in over a decade so any ideas?

You Are Definately Not Alone!

I would check to see if they have a court Judgement in regard to this case, by going down to your local court house and looking up your name as stated in the letter. Research it that way. Do Not Contact Them! First check to see if they have any judgements in court against you. That would be the only way they could still come after you. Is the Law Firm handleing this company Brewer and Brewer or is it a different law firm? My friend too has had problems with this company in CA. In his case it is in fact a fraudulent debt! He will be getting it dissmissed soon as I am helping him with the case. It is interesting that they somehow obtain Social Security numbers as I investigate all plaintiff in his case. We will be submitting it as evidence in court. The more and more I investigate First Resolution Investment Corp. I find that the evidence is mounting that it really does look as they are NOT legit, as there have been many people with the same stories and even some of the same exact companies (for which they alledge they are collecting for) in which they alledge they have a debt for. I would urge you to look into this as I suggested. Again do not contact the company without speaking to your attorney first!

If you do find a judgement which would not suprise me if you did, then get an attorney or you can deal with them yourself by going to your local Law Library for self help. There are many modest means attornies out there if you can not find or afford an attorney full price. I would check to see if you may find a free attorney first. Law Schools usually offer free legal help.

I did find a woman who stated that they are taking her IRS returns as they have interceped them, so deffinately check into it as I suggested!

God Bless You and Warmest Regards.
