I contracted to buy a home from First Texas Homes. My wife and I liked the home designs and the salesperson was nice enough. I don't think they anticipated us being so pro-active in the building of our home. Here's what happened:
We missed the pouring of the foundation. But we said surely they would have it inspected and they will warranty it ten years right? So we did our first private inspection pre-sheetrock (Always hire you own inspections!) We found out that many, and I mean many anchor bolts were missing. My question is...if the foundation was inspected, how did the inspector miss that and if he found it why did'nt they fix it before framing?
As it turns out they retrofit the bolts with the TYVECK up and without expoxy (some bolts are slanted, broken etc.) But we loved the house so we kept pushing.
We have a 12 page inspection report, crooked boards, and other misc. items. We know why the boards are crooked, cut short and off center. We had visted the site several times and literally found cases of empty beer bottles!? We came by one night and found a crew framing at 9pm with no artificial light! But still we pushed on...
We asked that a closet be enlarged in the master bdrm and it wasnt done. I saw the change on the blueprint, and the even made me sign it...why was'nt it built...maybe they forgot.
So finally I told them to fix it. First they said it was structuraly impossible...then they said It was built according to plan(but they will never show the original blueprint I signed)and this guy named Clayton Ricther faxed my agent a copy of a "bogus" blueprint copy (I'm working on having him convicted for this because in the great state of Texas this is illegal)
So finally we had enough and asked for cancellation of the contract and return of our funds....Now all of a sudden they claim that they will fix the closet (but I thought it could not be done, or was already built to plan....are you kidding!)They are lying, cheating, thieves and I feel really bad for the peole they have suckered into closing. I thank GOD we did not buy that house. And I can promise First Texas that before I,m done it will cost them a lot more that the 13 THOUSAND DOLLARS they stole from me

First Texas Homes still up to the same ol tricks!

I can see that the Clowns at First Texas are still ripping people off with thier sub-standard product. After they stole my 13 grand and then sold the house to some unsuspecting citizen they continue to build crap and in my opinion are ripe for a class action. I did not sucumb to the lies and deception and I feel fortunate I did not complete the deal, even though it cost. KB Homes is superior compared to First Texas and the Texas Legislature is corrupt in allowing such builders to exist and operate in Texas. I guess its all that Lobby money lining pockets that keeps everyone quiet. I wonder how many of them own a First Texas/ Gallery Home? If you are even considering buying from these cheats I urge you not to do it...you will be sorry. Search the internet and try and find someone saying something good about First Texas. I wrote to Senator Rodney Ellis and of course....no reply. The only way to teach companies like this a lesson is NOT TO BUY THIER PRODUCT...PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS! Who else charges 4000.00 in "non-refundable" earnest money?
