My husband was employed for Fischer Bros. for a number of months. Was told that he was a good employee, giving a new truck, etc. With no warning when he came in for a truck inspection Fischer Bros. reduced the speed on his truck and others without any kind of notice. When my husband first went to work for this company they told him the speed of the trucks and that it wouldn't change.
But shortly after this speed change my husband was offered a driving job closer to home. He told the appropriate people at the company. They told him at that time that there was no hard feelings and he was a good driver and he could come back to work at anytime, no problem.
When I call about him wanting to come back to work there they told me that there wouldn't be any problem that they would run it by their people and get back to me on when he could restart. I called a few days later and found out that they had fixed it so that he would never be able to work there again.
When he tried to apply to another company, that company turned him down. I asked them what the problem was. The recruiter told me that Fischer told her that he left because of the speed change and that wasn't it at all and Fischer Bros. knew this.
What they are doing is lying to prospective employers and keeping drivers that worked for them from getting jobs. We are afraid to put their name on applications because of what they might say.
Well that is about it. Previous drivers beware of how Fischer Bros. handles previous drivers.

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Not all true

AUTHOR: Ex-Truckdriver - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 29, 2009

I also was a employee of Fischer Brothers Trucking.  And as anybody that has worked for anybody else sometimes what is said is misunderstood.  Yes, I had my problems but by not doing the same thing again they decided to listen to me on some things.  Not wanting to pay me for the time spent loading a load, next time after four hours I went to the cab and read.  I was quite high on the seniority list my truck got cut back to.  I didn't own it so I couldn't complain.  I had some health problems while on the road.  They flew my wife to where I was, paid for a rental car, paid for a hotel room for her, and paid for us both to fly home.  They were always honest with me and the two highest people at the company would call to check up on me.   Sometimes being honest with your employer is the best policy.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

also one other thing

i do want to take a second and touch on another point about the authors problem with the trucks being turned down at fischer.

I was hired and wasnt told about the trucks being turned down. but as far as i know, there are not any fortune tellers out there who could have seen the economy hit as bad as it did a year in advance. messages went out the all the trucks via quallcomm system, ( on board computer ) about how the trucks wil be turned down to 65 within the next few weeks of the time it was sent. notice was given and i was actually the very last person who had my truck turned down. i was the last one in to get it done, but that was through my own fault. i dodged all that i could to get that truck to not get turned down. from the time they told ALL drivers in advance when they were going down until they finally got to me, it had been close to 3 months..... just wanted to set the record straight. notice was given about the trucks...

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

fischer treated me with respect

AUTHOR: Former Otr Driver - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 11, 2009

I have posted my experience with fischer of the other rip-off report but ill make this one very brief.

My experience with fischer was for over a year. they always treated me with respect and when it came time for me to leave, they gave me a great reccomondation so i could find another position for employment until i go back and drive for fischer once again.

it would be easy for fischer to not have done that, but they did, they gave me a great refrence, I am temp employed by a new company for a few months until my personal life's woes are subsided.

i just wanted to say how i was treated with respect from fischer and i do look forward into going back.

i know how people say i say that now until its time, but i left fischer, and talked to someone in management since, and they are yet, still offering my return, they still did the refrence. i dont have anyhting bad to say about allen fischer or the management boys, and i look forward to running for them again someday soon.
