If your looking for a "new employer", this definitely is not the company to work for. My story, accurate and concise, begins one year ago. I began as a 1st seat solo driver June 2008, my home state is AZ. Tucson to be exact.

Davenport, IA is more or less this companies terminal, if thats what you want to call it. I wouldn't consider their "barn" a terminal. I'm dead serious.

If you look closely at florilli's hiring pay scale, it says in black and white, .34cpm 1-6 months, followed by a 1/2 cent increase thereafter at 6 month increments. They failed to mention that you as the driver have no option to "Opt out" on the per diem, so you actually are earning .24 cpm and according to them, Brad Jones, is dispersed in a percentage equalling the .34 cpm as stated. Good for them... they're the ones who benefit come tax time.

If you live in AZ, as I do, good luck trying to get home. 1 year running with this company I not once got home even remotely close to the day I had requested. Your Driver Manager, a.k.a, travel agent asks that you send it in via their GeoLogic communication system 1 week prior to your desired home request. They will most certainly broker your load out of Tucson, AZ comming on duty, but won't if your on your way in. Your at the mercy of someone who "happens" to be going west. They have numereous dead states they don't deliver into. I found myself on numereous ocassions going back up north, going east just to find a better chance of getting a load into AZ or CA. The problem is this: Not aligning there resources with there strategic priorities.

My track record was Exemplary, unmatched, and unheard off. My 388 Pete was immaculate. I, out of my own pocket, had all rims, tanks and front grill polished. I didn't bother me to keep my house looking "squared away" at all times. I always spoke highly of my Marine background and was always recognized for it. In word and deed, I always made good.

On 2/9/2009 I had a pickup at Atlas cold storage, Piedmont SC, I awoke to a dead battery that I had been complaining about for sometime. Jumped off reefer and proceeded to shipper. As usual I carefully read load info, text info got going down the road and sent in canned msg 012 requesting directions to shipper. When I received them all was o.k., but on the last paragraph stating $180 late fee. I immediatly called dispatch and noted that I was to be 15 min late and needed dispatch to call. I arrived and was told: $180 1st b4 loading began. I asked if florilli dispatch had called, I was told no. So much for help. I requested a wirecode for $180, when I received it is was noted personal advance. I questioned why?

My so called dispatcher referred me to Brad Jones. Brad by the way if your reading this, why do you always take a paragraph stating your title and position? Pretentious if you don't mind me saying so. It took me 10 days to resolve this. I questioned Brad as to who authorized florilli to assess me, the driver, $180 ? Brad was never prepared for me. I wasn't going to accept this and demanded an explanation and reimbursement. I argued with him for about an hour and and logically reasoned, much to his dismay, I bluntly told him that he took food off my plate and that if he ever reached over it, I would bite him, I also illustrated the shortcommings of this business, trucking, and that a reasonable amount of fault can be blamed on someone, or something, with my track record, he concurred, that all that I do and lengths I and other drivers go to make things happen, this doesn't happen by mistake ? He aggreed to $90 dollar. I figured if he could do $90 why not $180.

For some reason Brad Jones thinks that snow and ice only fall in IA. WRONG !

I came into KS only to be confronted by a early spring storm comming out of the Rockies that had 6' snow drifts, and literally trapped me in Hutchinson KS, florilli asked me if I could back track and get around it? I laughed only knowing that KSDOT.org showed all routes as closed until further notice. He insisted I could make it through. That morning before all this had occurred, I personally spoke with Brad Jones and he really believed it was driveable. I'll be the judge of that Brad.

Secondly to last, not all of Florilli's tractors are equipped with APU's, consequently if your somewhere like AZ, NV where the temperature is "London Broil" you need to idle your truck. According to Florilli's they prefer you hang out in the drivers lounge, or outside your house to conserve fuel. Florilli will not pay for idle air, and I was told point blank, "If you want air, you pay for it" We don't care ! Didn't I read it somewhere in the FMCSR, 11 hrs driving, followed by 10 hours uninturrupted break. If I don't sleep continuously for at least 8 hrs, I'm not a productive driver, henceforth shortening line 3 -Driving duty due to driver fatigue. For some reason Florilli thinks that the driver is out to put them out of business. There is no driver recognition, performance evaluation that is implemented as an incentive, they really beleive that your even lucky to have a job, and when you confront them of your intentions of leaving, they get there thongs all up in a bunch.

Not once did I ever see, or hear of anything positive concerning the companies greatest asset: The Driver. I constantly had to be reminding myself that I was only concerned with myself. As opposed to there analogies, I was to grow with a promising company, be part of something great? No thank you.

If your looking for your reimbursements, take caution. I methodically taped my toll, lumper, and washout receipts on 1 blank sheet of paper to be scanned in upon completion of my trip along with my BOL. I learned early on- Don't pay for anything out of your pocket ! I caught them a few times only reimbursing what they advanced me for scale and toll. I payed for a washout and got a P.O. for some antifreeze that was payed out of my pocket, had it along with toll receipts, scale tickets, all of which were on 1 blank sheet of paper, taped and readable, they " overlooked" ! They got theirs, and didn't see mine, all of which were on the same sheet of blank white paper! I called to see why this happened, and there payroll secretary, Stephanie, said I had to resubmit it. Without explanation why.

I can honestly say that maybe a handful of individuals in this company, driver and office personnel possses any type of integrity, bearing or trustworthyness. I compromised my standards, found myself justifying there shortcommings, distanced myself from my family, missed countless family functions, including one where 2 wks of advance notice of picking my father up at the airport, they were not the least bit concerned of the importance of getting me home, needless to say they did'nt recognize a sense of urgency.

The bottom line here is this: If Brad Jones was able to pawn off more on you, i.e., repairs, fuel, tolls, which by the way they constantly have you dodging tolls from I-80/94 to I-65 using US-30 IN thru OH into PA, just so they can insure there livelyhood. They rather you swept out your trailer than wash it out. I complied with this, and even upon looking at my driver settlement summary noted how much money I was saving these crooks.

I took matters into my own hands on 06/12/09, I texted my driver manager stating that my fee for sweeping out their trailer was $15 and that if they didn't like it I could always go down to the Blue Beacon and have it done correctly, at their cost. No sooner did I receive a msg telling me, "Its time you call " Added with the fact that the day before I told them to quit being so d**n cheap and buy a bus ticket for a driver who needed a ride from NY into IL. They misconstrued my kindness for my weakness and figured I would go along.

Brad Jones, your benevolence just may be your demise coupled with your incompetence and poor leadership skills has directed your father in laws company into a very precarious position. People are judged not by how many friends they have. But rather by how many they are liked by. You really need to stop, look and listen son.
