This contractor is a scam artist!  After checking out what we believe are fake references, we hired him to install unfinished oak flooring in our living room, and to "buff and coat" our remaining hardwood floors.  We purchased the oak flooring per his specifications, and actually overbought to ensure that there would be enough.  We also removed the old flooring in order to save some money and speed up the process.

Day 1 - never showed up, we spent 7 hours on the phone trying to track him down.

New Day 1, he showed up 6 hours late, installed part of the floor and told us that everything was running on schedule.

Day 2 he showed up 4 hours late and informed us that we had to buy more flooring.  We made an emergency trip to the lumber store and bought 50 sq ft more.  He completed install at the end of Day 2.

Day 3 he returned to sand and coat, which he did - WITHOUT EVER CLEANING THE NEW FLOOR.  We have what appear to be his lunch stains, boot scuffs and dirt trapped under the poly permanently in our floor.  We did not see this, though, because we were warned to stay off of the flooring.  We also have poly spilled on to adjoining flooring and our ceramic tile fireplace surround.  We were told to be out of the house during the poly phase.

Day 4 he showed up to the final coat of poly and the buff and coat.  Once again, no cleaning involved, so we have a myriad of garbage trapped in our floors.  Also, he buffed but didn't completely coat, so you can see bare spots and inconsistency all over our floors.

At the end of Day 4, we found him gone, along with all of the excess flooring that we had purchased ourselves.  After inspecting the new fIoor, we found that most of the boards were the discards we deemed not for installation - chips missing, holes, wrong cuts.  I contacted him and he promised to come right out.  Haven't heard from him since.

He has also operated under at least one other alias - Wayne Bender.  BBB shows up to 16 complaints against him under this name.

He likes to dispute the complaints online against him by stating that he has never done business with the people filing the complaint.  Rest assured I have copies of canceled checks and emails to prove our business relationship.  We are also considering legal action, but we have been unable to locate him - his address is different on nearly every profile.  The BBB has been unable to locate him as well.
