I purchased a 2012 Fleetwood rv with the Ford Triton v10 engine. One month later the engine died while traveling 65mph. In doing so it killed the power steering and power brakes making the vehicle difficult to control at that speed. Ford attempted to repair it in Arizona . Four months later the engine died again while traveling 60mph in Illinois. Again I lost power steering and brakes which nearly caused an accident trying to get onto the shoulder of the road. Freeway Ford in Lyons failed to find the problem and released the vehicle to me after 10 days. Now I'm stuck with an unsafe vehicle and having to get an attorney just to get the vehicle repaired or replaced. Buyer beware of the Ford v10 triton 6.8 engine .

"  Again I lost power steering and brakes which nearly caused an accident trying to get onto the shoulder of the road. "

I think the OP is just trying to make things sound more dramatic for effect.   Hard steering and braking occur when the engine dies on any car / truck with power steering and brakes.

" Now I'm stuck with an unsafe vehicle and having to get an attorney just to get the vehicle repaired or replaced. "

Can any company guarantee that their engine will never quit?  No.  Does that make all cars / trucks unsafe?  No.

So far you've had two undiagnosed occurances of engine stoppage looked at by two different dealerships.  If you want to spend money on an attorney at this point it's up to you.   I saw nothing in your report to indicate that you have escalated this issue through Ford's corporate channels.  Being that this is a 2012 truck and you've taken it to two different dealers (one for 10 days), they should be able to come up with a plan of action.    It's clear that you're dealing with an very intermittent fault ( 4 mos. between failures ).  Those are the hardest to fix because the problem can't be easily reproduced.  You should demand that they install a real-time recording device to capture the fault next time it happens.

Not quite true.

I have no idea whats wrong with the truck, but your power steering and brakes did not cease to function, with the motor not running the pumps are not pumping, which basiclly puts everything on manual.Although the vehicle is alot harder to operate, you can still steer and stop, that is why you didn't have an accident. We are so use to a light touch that we think that this is a catastrophe, but it is not, more so the next time it happens, just push harder.

Good luck with your problem, and G

Why Is This A Surprise???

Any and I did say ANY vehicle with power steering and power brakes will have those functions cease to operate when the engine quits...ANY VEHICLE! Is this still under warranty? You need to find a mechanic, it may need to be an independently owned shop who can and will connect a data recorder and let you drive it until the problem happens again. The data recorder will record the various data streams and see exactly which stream had aberations right before shut down otherwise the mechanic is just taking a stab in the dark and throwing parts at the problem hoping to hit the right one. In general terms however, the most likely causes would be a fuel pump, computer or crankshaft position sensor or associated connectors and wiring. However, the use of the data recorder is your best bet.
