Truck purchased new in February 2003 from Rozier Ford in Statesboro, Georgia. Moved to Dothan, Alabama and seeked service for sheets of paint peeling from hood only. Was told by Bondy's Ford body shop employee, didn't even step outside to look at it, that it was not covered.

I told him that I had found reports of this on the internet as Ford had chosed to use aluminum hoods instead of steel and apparently they did NOT prep the metal correctly as a lot of individuals were having the same problem. My hood began peeling in Fall of 2008 in one small spot......by spring of 2009 the one spot had grown to 3 spots and is progressively getting worse.

The truck has been excellent until this issue I must admit but, I feel Ford should correct their mistake..... I have been to two (2) additional body shops and they are all familiar with this issue and both said that it is "inherent" in this and other vehicles in this time frame and can not believe that Ford has not been forced to complete a recall yet. The remainder of the truck still looks like new paint.

I'm sorry you're having this problem.

I'm curious though. I have a 2002 Ford F150 that I purchased NEW at the end of July in 2000. My body paint, including the engine hood, is still flawless. I'm rather impressed by this.

I do have some corrosion on the painted bumpers though. The rear bumper around the license plate lights and the front bumper where there are some obvious dings from stones/gravel.

I do have a "bug deflector" on my engine hood so perhaps that is why my engine hood is still fine.

remember, the vehicle is 6 yrs old ! How many miles? recalls are for safety or emissions related items, not appearance. There won't be a recall... good luck
