On 12/27/2008, without any prior information about this merchant, I ordered 18 units of Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS with it from www.foto-tronix.com as they advertised it as new at an unbelielvably low price. The total purchase is over $2600 and my credit card was charged the next day.
However, I became a little bit alert the next day after I couldn't find any physical contact information from its website. I then googled and found on www.resellerratings.com there are over 60 terrible reviews about this merchant. And I then emailed this merchant, trying to cancel my order. But I was told it couldn't be canceled and if I tried to charge back with my credit card companayits legal department will file any disputed transaction with the collection agencies and report you as a delinquent to ALL MAJOR CREDIT bureaus (quoted from their email to me).
I reported twice to my credit card company and the next day (01/13/2009) )after my second report UPS tried to deliver me two small packages: neither of each is over the size of 7 inches by 7 inches by 7 inches. And each package won't weigh over 2 pounds but the shipping weight was marked as 12 pounds and 14 pounds respectively. I immediately rejected both packages.
Based on this merchant's past tricks of ripping off consumers, I think this is their new trick of trying to rip off consumers: if consumers order multiple units, they simply generate a shipping label with shipping weight equivalent what they order but they actually ship out only one or two units for multiple packages; if consumers reject the package (s) or dispute the transaction, they will dispute with consumers' credit card company by using the shipping label as shipping proof that consumers receive but reject the package (s); further they will, as they claim, use a collection agent to further dispute with the credit company, disturb consumers, or damage consumers' credit score.
Like many of the other victims, I took time to report my terrible experience with TRONICS, WWW.Foto-tronix.com, hoping law enforcement agencies, medias, and especially online shoppers can pay immediate attention to their various tricks of ripping people. This person or this small group of fraudulent sellers should be caught and sent to jail!
