Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

I am posting this to help others preserve their valuable time and not waste all the time that I wasted due to no research prior to signing my soul over to FRANKLIN CAREER INSTITUTE. My journey begins as follows:

Your experience at FCI begins with a shady old man giving papers out all over the NYC area. He will give you a paper and ask you for your contact information. Of course, you can not walkaway without being harassed for contact information. You give it to him because he won't get the hint. Of course, the story he is selling sounds sweet and you wonder, ehh why not? WELL, There are many reasons why not. All of which you do not realize until it is too late.

If you don't visit the facility ASAP you will receive several calls from the staff. Of course, the main thing they focus on in this "TRADE" school is recruiting. (What about the education? the staff? the job placement? I'll cover all of that later... as quickly and as briefly as possible.) Lets say you were sold after hearing a few good experiences and all of the positive things the staff had to say about the school (go figure, huh?) So you walk into a dingy looking building shared by a fitness center and chase bank. Quickly the staff members are throwing dates at you. Telling you about the awesome future that awaits you. So you don't have time to notice the dirty floors, the bored looking staff, the students either gobbling fast food in front of the building or smoking cigarettes with the staff. However, you will be taken on a rushed tour around the school showing you some of the most concentrated looking class rooms. They will skip the bathrooms and cafeteria, these are the most scariest looking rooms in FCI.

The bathrooms literally look like pissing contests are held there on a daily basis. You'll be lucky to visit FCI bathrooms between menstrual cycles. Otherwise, try to schedule your bathroom breaks before 10 AM. Anything after, is when the students arrive. Despite the class schedule starting at 8am sharp. The "cafeteria" is falling apart. There are about 10 chairs, 6 of which are broken and two long shaky, uneven tables to accommodate the alumni of 300+. There is no sort of entertainment although the vending machines are there for the gambling type. Will you get your snack? will you get your money back? will you try again? Exciting, huh?

The student population is pretty interesting. 85% of them are sporting facial tattoos, sleeves and/or piercings. The first few weeks is when you should mingle with everyone because as the weeks go by, your group will decrease drastically. Most of them wait the first two weeks to receive the iPad as promised. They cut out after. I guess the registration process isn't too much trouble when there is an iPad promised!

You'll learn about the staff as the weeks go by. Each module is 5 weeks long. Pretty short for course intervals huh? Don't worry, learning is NOT a priority at FCI. The main concern here is recruits and 80+ percent in attendance. Wouldn't want to cause the school a budget cut! You can sit in class with a blank facial expression all day, no one will ask you any questions. The assignments are tedious. Let's say you had enough of the torture and can't make it to the whole 5 day week? Let me introduce you to:

You sit in this classroom full of loud, obnoxious students. Usually sharing and gobbling down more fast food. There's usually a lazy instructor sitting amongst them somewhere in between the greasy keyboards and outdated monitors. You can find the instructor by following the end of the "sign in" book-tango line. What do you do in makeup? You make up assignments and catch up on subjects that you may be having trouble in. SIKE! Not at FCI. From 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM you can do whatever you'd like as long as it looks constructive. After 5:30 PM you don't even have to look constructive. You can totally do what you like. No seriously, I suggest you sign up for NetFlix before you do make up, you'll have a lot of time to catch up on your favorites. Completing assignments is your business and no one is going to babysit you at FCI, you say? HA! Try doing an assignment, I dare you. All makeup assignments listed on FCI's bogus website are outdated and most instructors beg you not to hand those in. As they are already lugging around enough useless assignments. The main assignment instructors do expect is the hilarious "homework packet" you are handed at the beginning of every module. If you make it for the class session where the teachers give out the answers, you won't be hassled by the tedious work they contain, such as cross word and word search puzzles.

Still not convinced about joining FCI?

Let me tell you more about the externship/job placement FCI promises!

Those promises are great! Around your third module you'll figure: Hey, I'll keep my head in my books, ignore the horrible population and learning conditions.... it'll all be worth it when job placement and externship time comes around, no? YOU'RE WRONG. FCI has such a disgusting reputation that reputable hospitals and clinics will flat out tell you: NO STUDENTS FROM FCI ALLOWED, sorry. In other words, you're only chance at placement is at once of those dingy corrupt medical facilities that resemble your experience at FCI.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Sorry, dear.

AUTHOR: FreeAtLast - ()

I must clear up one thing.  The person that was doing placement and helping students was me.  I was not "let go."  I quit.

I quit because the school was badly run, and the director had "pets" she pushed on me to help, when others were more deserving.  I quit because some graduates were completely unemployable, and had no idea how to conduct themselves.  I quit because good people were fired.  I quit because the director was rude, and had no management skills at all.  I quit because I was fed up.

If you are not currently employed, go back to Mr. T and ask for real help.

Franklin Career Intitute scammed me too!!

I am a victim of this school scam as well, I graduated from the school on January of 2011. I completed my internship but was unsucessful at finding a job. I came to the school to find out information and ended up signing up for the school. The process was so fast that I walked out the school and didn't even realize that I had actually registed for a school. I had to pay a registration fee that I was told I would get back once my finacial aide papers had went through successfully. Because I didnt qualify for full finacial aide I was told that I had to pay for the remainding balance that would make up the difference of the 22,000 tuition. I worked part time at a clothing store to be able to pay the rest of my balance. I had set up weekly payments of 100.00 to which I ended up reducing to 50.00 when my hours got cut. Every week I got hawked and called into the office for my payments. My story is very similar to all the facts that you previously stated about the school ( although I know the staff has changed except for the "dean") I found myself falling behind in class because I didnt know what the teachers were talking about. There were maybe 5 teachers there I really learned from and 2 were in the day and the other 3 were at night. Anyway, back to how I got scammed. The government came out with a bad budget something with finacial aide, the school handed out letters to all the students and called us in the office one by one telling us that we would leave with a remaining balance because "the HES didnt approve all the money for that term" I knew they were making cuts to the budget but found how the school operated this system to be untrue. I called Higher Education, Tap, and Pell and found out that thie budget cut's did not apply to us only some schools. When I took this information to the school they continued to say that the cuts affected us. So I continued to make my payments weekly but was "encouraged" to pay off more. The thing that gets me is the fact that when the announcement came about the budget cuts I had already been enrolled in the school, I actually was almost close to my "graduation date". I felt like the new "laws" should not have applied to me because I was already enrolled, it would have made sense if they said the cuts would have affected students just coming in the school. The students we enraged and no matter who we went to in the school we were told there was nothing they could do for us. I found it funny that they young lady they had chasing us around the school was not even comfortable doing her job, she had several conversations with me off the school site about how they forced her to harass the students, how she felt that the school had played us and also stating that the school was a money grubbing school that didn't care about the students only the money. I still had not signed the paper stating that I would leave the school and continue to make the necesssary payments. The day of my "graduation" I was told that if I didnt go down to the office and sign the paper that I would not be allowed to to graduate, and could not complete my externship. I signed the paper under diress. I finished my externship got hired and then fired due to the fact that "my skills didnt meet the necessary requirments ". I went back to the school asked for assistance in job search and was told the original person that was helping and doing a good job with students had been let go. The new placement person was now my former computer teacher(SHMDH). I spoke to him and all he said was to go online and create profiles and apply for jobs, basically there was nothing that he could do for me. I have since called him several times over the course of 2 years and he is still saying the same thing. THE SCHOOL IS A JOKE, THEY TOOK MY MONEY AND NOW THEY WONT EVEN HELP ME FIND A JOB, THEY HAVE NO CONNECTIONS WITH DOCTORS OFFICES OR ANYTHING. PLEASE DONT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL, IF YOU DO YOU WILL BE OUT OF ALOT OF MONEY LIKE ME AND BEING HARRASED BY THIS COLLECTIONS DUDE FROM MERELL ASSOCIATES. SHMDH!!!

AUTHOR: Report411 - (USA)

Well readers, I've introduced you to the registration process, the tour of the school, the population, the makeup and the promises. Last but not least, you will meet the staff. As I mentioned, you meet them in intervals aka modules of 5 weeks. The attendance guy, whom you will be acquainted with very quickly, is a red face bald headed flirtatious weirdo who chases you around whining about your percentage and how it will affect his paycheck. He sits in a dingy office, cluttered with useless papers and time sheets of all the students he is pursuing for the week. Next to him, you will find a beer bellied, high school drop out with tattoos in gross places and an attitude that looks worse than her camel toe. You'll only interact with these two when you need anything having to do with your attendance. The "boss" of the school can be found on the first floor and the first floor only. She usually locks her door three times a day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please don't mistake her position titled as "boss" for a indication of respect. As soon as she turns her back, all of her lovely coworkers roll their eyes and make faces at her. She's the woman who decided to start handing out iPads to attract more recruits which = more money, one of the only things I have seen her stand up for (literally.) Other then these lovely characters, there's no one else worth mentioning. For everyone else is just bored with their lives and crappy pay checks. I don't blame them for being miserable. They are forced to stand in front of ghetto minorities for pennies. If you haven't already realized how horrible this school is and how many lies you're told throughout your whole experience, please feel free to come on down and find out for yourself.

If the experience isn't bad enough, the certification will help one of the worst reputations follow you around while you try your hardest to make something out of the time you spent in FCI. Also, you can't forget the balance you'll have once you leave. You'll have to find a way to make some money because those loan companies will be coming after you!
