I am a 21 year old college student at the University of Arkansas with no credit history and hardly any money. I recieved a call on Jan 16 from this credit card company Freedom Resource. The woman on the line said she was in Kansas City, but I can't be for sure after what I read about them.

When she told me all of the information, it sounded really good, pay 221.95 and receive a 15000 credit limit. Because I have no credit history, I agreed. It did sound alot like the other credit card companies that have an annual percentage rate. But this company promised me so much more, 0 APR, a free vacation, a free cell phone, you name it they offered it. I agreed that they could withdraw the money from my checking account on the 20th of January.

After this , I talked with a friend of mine and she said that I should not have done this, that there was no way for a credit card company to make money off of me with no APR. I called them back (and have sense lost there other number) on the 22 to see if they had withdrawn the money yet. They said that no they hadn't and that they switched banks so it might take a while. I told them that I had changed my mind and didn't want the card anymore and to cancel my service. I still had not received anything in the mail from them. The man said okay and that he would cancel the policy.

Today, the 11th of February, I stopped by my bank to make a deposit on my way home from school. When I asked for my balance, the banker said a negative 65 dollars. I said that it couldn't be true. I talked with the banker for ten minutes before I had her print my account history. There stood the problem on the sixth of February. That scam company freedom resource had withdrawn the 221.95 they said they wouldn't withdraw more than ten days prior to the transaction date. Ten days is enough time to push the papers to cancel a policy.

My bank said they couln't help me I was on my own. Thanks to you, I might be able to do something about it with information you had published on the web. I am really glad I found you while looking for Freedom Resource who does not really have a website and the number I do have says it has been disconected. I only wish I had found out about this company earlier.

Thank you

Alex
