Beginning in late October of 2002, I received a phone call from a company called Freedom Resource offering a credit card to me with a limit of $2,500...saying that I was "approved". I agreed to pay the $221.95 fee that could be drafted out of my account automatically. I agreed, & it's been a nightmare every since.

First, I was told that I would receive the actual credit card in 5-6 days... not business days, just days. Well, when that didn't happen, I called (at my own cost) to find out what was going on. After being placed on hold for over 30 minutes, I was told that it takes 15-21 "business" days for "the package" to arrive. I was told that once the package came, I was to fill out the signature card (which would be inside the package) & return it to the company, so they could activate my card.

Well, needless-to-say, the package did NOT arrive on time. When I called, I was told that the company that prints the packages had made a mistake & that they would all be sent out in a few days. From that point, it should only take 3-5 days for me to receive it in the mail. When it didn't arrive & I called back, I was told that it had been shipped & would arrive in 15-21 business days.

When the package arrived, there was NO signature card AND NO credit card included. When I called, they said that the signature card usually comes within a few days after the package & that if I didn't receive it within one week to call back. So, when it didn't come, I called back. At this point, I was told that they could call the bank & have the bank fax me the signature card.

I was supposed to have gotten that within a day or so. When it didn't come, I called back & was told that the bank was backed up, but it should be coming over soon. So, I told them not to fax it to the first number I gave them, but to fax it to a different number. Well, a few days later it was faxed...to the FIRST number that I specifically told them NOT to fax it to.

As I read through the information, I realized that the credit card was nothing more than a savings account & "I" set the limit up to $2,500... This obviously was NOT what I'd been told or led to believe all throughout this process. So, I called & told the woman that I'd just received the signature card & was very upset because it was not what I'd signed up for.

She told me that she could send me a refund request form, but that they had to get the package back. So, I went to the post office & (at my expense) mailed back the package. I did a signature confirmation, so that I'd have proof that it had been received. About three weeks later, I got the refund form, filled it out, & mailed it back. (This was also mailed with signature confirmation... I wasn't going to let them have the package back & the form without confirmation on my end, so they could say that they never got it.)

Well, once I knew they'd gotten it, I called to see when I would be getting my refund. I was told that it was scheduled to be sent on April 11, 2003 (which was about three weeks after they'd received the form). I was also told that it would only take about 3-5 days for me to receive it. Of course, that never happened...

Since everything else had taken 15-21 business days to arrive, I knew that would be by May 11th, give-or-take a day. Well, we're now into May 16th & still no check has arrived. When I've tried to call, I can't get any response on their end... It's just dead air. (When this has happened in the past, I've called the operator, only to be told that it's a problem with their end of the line.)

So, I am going to continue calling & researching some way to stop these people. It's funny to me how they claim to be a family-owned company with our interests in mind, yet they treat everyone so horribly. (ex: On one, of the many phone calls I've made, I was lied to by two different people on THE SAME phone call, so I asked to speak with a supervisor. When she finally came to the phone, she herself, got snotty with me, put me on hold for another 10 minutes, & then picked up the line & hung up on me.--This was all, after I'd been on hold for nearly an hour at my expense. Other times, when I've called, I've waited on hold for 15-30 minutes, waiting to speak with ANYone, only to be hung up on by the main line.)

It's all very annoying & enough to drive a person insane!!!
