They offer 500mb of free Wi-Fi service via a device they sale. If you want more than that you have to pay for it. They then offer a “top up” service that will add data to your plan if you get near your limit so as to avoid service interruption. The con they play on people though is even if you decline their automatic top up service, they will charge you anyways if you go over instead of simply turning off your service. They go to great length to not tell you this though and if you are unlucky like me and accidently leave your device running, they will keep charging you. I saw multiple charges on my account. It’s like back in the day when banks could keep charging you overdraft fees on your debit card if you went over and you would have no idea. So that $4.99 value meal at McDonald’s would actually cost you $4.99 plus a $20 overdraft fee. And if you went back for a $.99 pie, you are charged another $20 overdraft fee. Well this is how Freedom Pop operates. They charge you without shutting off the service and next thing you know, you have a $10 or $20 bill for what you though was free internet.
