I spent over $2500 on this range only three years ago and it is just plain not working!!!
It is NOT the heating element as the Frigidaire customer service Representative rudely indicated it was on my first call. Neither heating unit gets warm but there is no error code on the display unit and the convection fan is still running...

I am disgusted that the company refuses to stand behind the product after such a short time, regardless of the warranty status.  I just find it so ridiculous and of such poor taste that consumers are expected to purchase pricey extended warranties above and beyond the price of what are supposed to be high end, quality appliances, because why...we are expecting them to break? When I spend over $2,000 on an appliance I expect it to work for more than 3 years and if it doesn't I demand that the company that made it, stand behind their faulty product!  I refuse to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on service calls and hundreds more on parts on a stove that is only 3 years old and is supposedly the TOP of the line of your product line... I am so disgusted!

So..here I am, 5 days before Christmas with a useless and non-working range, unable to bake cookies for Santa with my two small children or prepare Christmas dinner... this is NOT customer service! All I was looking for was a good faith gesture for them to offer to send a tech out to take a look at it and replace the broken part since clearly, something is faulty as it is broken after only three years... but all I have gotten is rudeness and attitude.  I am disgusted.

not worthy

"YES, the company is in no way legally responsible to replace or repair it."

This is an admission that you were not ripped off.

"in my opinion, as a consumer...a stove in that price range ought to work for longer than 3 years"

You posted a Ripoff Report based on your opinion even though you know you were not ripped off. I agree that the range should last longer but your complaint is not worthy of a Ripoff Report.

Perhaps a neighbor will permit you to bake cookies in their oven.

That's not what you said

when it doesn't, the company should at least offer the consumer repair help; be it a trouble shooting guide, a manual, something.

When you post something on the Internet people have ONLY what is written.

To quote what you originally posted...
I refuse to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on service calls and hundreds more on parts on a stove that is only 3 years old and is supposedly the TOP of the line of your product line

That statement does not sound like someone who is just looking for help in the form of a repair guide or manual.  It sounds like someone who is expecting them to repair it under an expired warranty.

By the way you never answered the question.  How do you KNOW it is not the heating element?  Because as far as we know your stove is not fixed.  Or is it in fact fixed and you were just trying to gain sympathy by talking about not being able to have cookies for Santa?

To clarify

First, I must say I was not saying that I am somehow "special"... and I acknowledge that the product is out of warranty and that YES, the company is in no way legally responsible to replace or repair it.

What I was saying is that; in my opinion, as a consumer...a stove in that price range ought to work for longer than 3 years and... when it doesn't, the company should at least offer the consumer repair help; be it a trouble shooting guide, a manual, something.  All I was given was 1 possibility that it could be. Which it was not.  All I was looking for was a little customer service, not the very rude brush off I was given.

My initial report was to make other consumers aware that these models are not worth the price they are sold for and they do not stand the test of time.  I see no reason that i need be attacked when all I was doing was trying to alert other consumers to perhaps save someone else the headache I have had.  Thank you however for all of you comments, have a wonderful holiday season and a joyous New Year.

In your opinion you deserve the same product coverage as the customers that purchased the extended warranty... Is that correct? Is that fair?

You couldn't get a better range for $2500?

About the only decent thing made under the Frigidaire brand are lower end, less complicated ranges. No other appliance with their name is worth it.

I'm shocked anyone would spend that on a Frigidaire product.

You're pretty much crap out of luck if the warranty expired.

- You talk about how they should do this or that.  You talk about how ridiculous they are.  You talk about how warranties don't matter.

So in your mind regardless of their warranty they should continue to service the range under warranty as a sign of "good faith".  Well at what point would you consider the consumer as being ridiculous for expecting a company to continue to repair the range?  3 Years? 5 Years?  Exactly as long as your last service call?  Forever?

Should a range last more than 3 years...yea it probably should.  But is a company obligated to service it after the warranty expires..NOPE.  Perhaps you should have bought that extended warranty for a few hundred dollars to protect your $2,500 investment.

Let's see if I understand you...

You want GE to fix your stove which is probably 2 years out of warranty.

YOU also know that the heating elements are NOT bad, regardless of what the "rude" service rep. told you.

I just gotta ask, how do you know this?

The display could easily show normal and the convection fan run if the elements were somehow bad.

Since YOU are sure YOU'RE right, and "refuse" to pay to fix it, either junk it and get a new one or just use the cook-top.

You are right, you should expect it to last longer, but the manufacturer is under no obligation to extend the written warranty to whenever a customer feels it should be.  Perhaps if people didn't like the warranty terms on a product and bought elsewhere, warranties would be longer.

The oven control touch pad (just the touchpad, not the electronics) on my Jenn-Aire drop in range went bad out of warranty and cost me over $200 just for the part....I fixed it myself.  I don't, however, recommend attempting this if not familiar with repair procedures.

Good luck in your pursuit of fixing the problem.
