My claims handler is Gyl Guaglianone. Her supervisor is Jennifer Riser. Neither will return my call. It's been a while.

In August 2007, the Andersen/Emco storm door which I had purchased from Home Depot and installed by their subcontractor severed the tip of my dog's tail, requiring surgery. I sent an e-mail via Andersen Corporation's website.

Gallagher Bassett represents Andersen Corporation. Gyl Guaglianone sent me a letter with a claim number (001577-006138-GD-01). People called and came by to take photos. Now Gyl Guaglianone won't return my calls to let me know what's going on. Neither will her supervisor, Jennifer Riser.

Come on, Gyl and Jennifer, why won't you call me back to make this right? Because of you, I'm making a list and checking it twice - of companies Gallagher Bassett represents and I won't do business with ever again. There are plenty of complaints on the internet about your company. Think about it.

As an example, hey Andersen Corporation - I have a 5,000 square foot fix-up house that needs new windows. Guess who won't be getting that business? That's right. You. Why did you pick these guys to represent you? Was it the bottom line? 'Cause you just lost my business which is certainly more expensive than the claim payout would have been.

I realize these reports need to be short, but you did not present anything to indicate the door itself was at fault. Maybe the problem was the installation of the door. Maybe neither, just not clear.

If you do have evidence of a defect in the door or installation, you do have option of a small claims suit against the manufaturer, Home Depot, and the sub-contractor. If you think you have a case worth risking filing fees, let the shirking lawfirm know you will file in court if you have not heard from them in 10 or 15 days (pick one).

Why is Andersen Windows or Gallagher Bassett at fault for this in the first place????

I think this website can be a GREAT tool for consumers like us out there but I find it funny to read some of these complaints. In this case it appears someone is looking for something for nothing, a big problem in our country. It's the "someone's gotta pay" mentality.

Need more information on the facts of the accident, how is Andersen at fault for a dog's tail getting caught in a door? Seems to me the dog's owner is at fault. If they wanted to completely safeguard against an injury to the dog then shouldn't they have kept a better eye on the dog and not allowed the door to shut on its tail? Or should the door have been made of some kind of sponge-like material, maybe bubble wrap? Maybe sunshine and rainbows? ha ha, I just think it's silly the amount of complaints we consumers make, we are way too litigious of a country.

No response from a company is a valid complaint, though. What ever happened, was a final decision made by Andersen or Gallagher Bassett? I'm interested to see what resulted from this.
