I am a Ex employee who thought this was unfair so i'm tellig you about it. First off when you trade in your games to them they steal your game ad ndon't give you credit for it.

Ok the way this worked was if you traded in 5 games and one of them you are susspose to get more money then the other ones. Well they would take that game and put it aside. At the end of their shift they would trade in all the games themselves, But they no returned them. So they get full face value for the games that you brought in to them. And you don't see a dime of it.

I find this very unfair I am not sure if more than this one is doing that but i know that this one is. If you go in there always keep a list of what u trade in as well.

#9 UPDATE Employee

Slow down there

AUTHOR: Cooper - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 01, 2008

One store doing that is not reflective on the company. That employee (plus the manager on duty if he knew about it) should or would've been fired without appeal. If you've been an employee for at least 6 months, you know that GS loss prevention doesn't mess around. As a company this certainly isn't accepted practice, if you're an employee you should know that.

Now, to prevent this, you should ALWAYS check your receipt. If you don't receive the credit you thought or was previously told, you can speak with a manager and they will very likely take care of it. If that doesn't work call corporate, and loss prevention will rectify it swiftly.

Your #1 is right, yes. But, thats only if the SM enforces it. Ive had two that never did. And I know the other stores around me also didn't. Yes it is 'company policy'. But heres an idea. Call the Corporate number see if they want to help you or refer you to the DM because they could care less. I bet you its the latter.

I swear that rip-off report is indeed an experiment by aliens to test the great ignorance levels of human beings. I almost did not reply, but it seems as though a defined topic has taken shape. The issue: Should employees be able to rent the games?

I will state my opinion first. YES, YES, YES, and finally, why would you care?

#1: Disc must be returned in the same condition as rented. If anything is brought back with a single scratch. Employee must pay for the disc.

#2: There must be at least 3 copies in stock for it to be rented. It is also a 4 day rental including the day you take it and bring it back.

#3: Due to #1, used copies are always encouraged over new.

#4: We're not dealing with cartriges anymore people. It's not like your going to start your game and have some file on it that's already half way through. The disc remains unchanged. If it has been changed, refer to rule number 1.

THere is nothing immoral or unethical about this benifit. Video stores let there employees take home movies and games for free to test the product. Why is this any different? Most new product is opened anyway to keep the disc off the shelf. How is this ripping people off? No one is paying more because "johnny" took a game home to try it out last week. I think some people just like to complain...

Oh and Christopher said it all about the employee thing (I cracked up about the spoon joke!). If I go take $50 from a register tomorrow, you really think that is because gamestop told me to? NO, it's cause I would be being a moron. And stealing your trades?? Yah what a master plan, that really makes sense. Lets become a fortune 500 company by not paying out customers for the product they bring in. No one will ever notice... (note sarcasm)

They are ripoffs

AUTHOR: Jessica - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 11, 2005

I've seen a lot of Games places like this one and know for a fact they are a ripoff. My ex boyfriend works for them and has "borrowed" video games and tested or tried them out to see if he would be interested in buying it. I myself don't think this is right one bit. Everyone who has a brain knows what goes on, a new game comes in and serveral people who work there want to try it. So they open it and then play it and bring it back. I'm telling you these Game places need to be reported or something, they do nothing but rip people off.

Bad employees, not bad company

AUTHOR: Christopher - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 11, 2005

I consider my work at GameStop my most enjoyable job to date. I loved going to work there, and I loved the customer interaction. Now, before you classify me as a corporate suck-up, there were two aspects of the company that I didn't like. First is the employee benefit of being able to check out anything in the store, except PC games. I don't think we should have been able to check-out the new games, but GameStop covers itself in that way. If the item isn't returned in the exact same condition that you checked it out in, the employee pays full price for the item. The other thing was the GameStop Card. I hated pushing that on people, but that's mostly because I'm not the salesman type. That being said...

From your statements, it sounds to me like the employees were the ones doing the rip-offs, and since none of what you said follows company policy, they were the ones in the wrong, not the company.

Blaming the company for the stupidity of some corrupt employees is like blaming spoons for Rosie O'Donnel being fat.

Also, as for giving your father the discount, that's strictly against company policy, as YOU are the only one allowed to use your discount, and no one else. No family members, no friends, only YOU.

Next time read your employee agreement before you sign it.

The gloves are off, all the juicy stuff they don't want you to know

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 08, 2005

you see they said that don't report to loss prevention cause it would be more trouble than its worth.I caught the manager on duty stealing 50 dollars from my draw before in order to try to get me fired for loss of money. But i called the District manager. He got fired. And then the new boos which was friends of the old one.Got me saying i had problems with loss prevention since i gave my dad my discount while he was stealing from customers.
Also when i was trying to find another job he told the people calling them i STOLE!!!.

This store is doing lots of things you should know about and its about time i tell you about it.

enough about me.

Gamestop employees often open up brand new games and "borrow them" so they can get a better understanding for the game. But what they do then is they bring them back and rewrap them and sell them as new to you even though they played it at their house.Sometimes when they could return items. They would return someone's crappy used version and you buy it for new.Is this fair. No.

I say we go against these people and show them that this is not allowed.
