Gardner White Bought a bedroom set, broke the FIRST night, won't return everything Waterford Michigan
My girlfriend and I bought a bedroom set, mattress, and couches at Gardner White. The bedroom set and mattress were delivered last Tuesday and we were so excited. Slept on it the first night, and when my girlfriend came home the next day, noticed that all 3 supports underneath the bed were broken.
Service came out and said that it was a manufacturer defect. Looking at it to me it is more of a poor design than a defect, but sure, we'll call it a defect. Seeing as though they have their resolution process to go through, they can't pick up the bedroom set until this Thursday, being over a week later!
So, it's either sleep on a broken bed, stay with friends, get a hotel room, or sleep on the couch. We decided to be extremely careful and sleep on the bed, since that is obviously the most comfortable place. Saturday night (4 days after everything was delivered) we were sleeping and the whole bed collapsed! Now our issue is, this mattress is basically bent in half because the end of the bed has drawers, and that is the only thing holding that end of the matress up, but the part by the headboard in on the floor!
I've been sleeping on the couch for the last few nights and my girlfriend has been staying at a friends' place. [continued below]....
We couldn't agree on another bedroom set, so as of now we have a broken bed, and apparently the people from Gardner White want us to keep this now ruined mattress and either sleep with it on the floor, or sell us a metal frame. Apparently NONE of their "managers" or corporate people have the power to take the mattress back. Like I already stated, it's probably ruined now but it's their "policy." This has been one of the worst experiences and by far the WORST customer experience I have ever had.
I worked as a manager of a restaurant for many years, and sometimes when someone isn't happy, you just do whatever you can to take care of them and put it behind you. I don't think it is unreasonable to take back a mattress that is bent in half because of your defective bed. That's all I've asked is to take the mattress with the bedroom set and I will put this behind me, but not one person at Gardner White can seem to do that. Hopefully one of the higher ups is reading this and is willing to step to the plate for a couple that has easily spent in excess of $10,000-$15,000 at their establishment. This has just been appalling.
