We recently purchased a vehicle from Gary Matthews Motors. We had reservations at first from a previous bad experience, but decided to try again.

We had a trade-in, and in order to get our vehicle at the monthly payment we needed, we wrote a check for them to hold until a certain day.

They were asked to hold the check more than once, and said that it was no problem. That weekend when I checked my bank account, I was overdrawn by about $700. Five checks had bounced. I keep very good track of the account and have never had a bounced check in my life. We were extremely disturbed by this matter.

My husband called our salesman and told him exactly what had happened. He said that we were supposed to have filled out a hold check form in order for them to hold our check. We were not informed of this at the time. He did take full responsibility, and said that he would refund us for our bank fees of over $200.

He told us to come there Monday morning and everything would be taken care of. I came there Monday and showed him my bank statement. He said the person who needed to sign the check wasn't there that day, so I needed to come back Tuesday at 11:00 and he would cut me a check.

So, I called around 12:00 Tuesday, and a lady told me that he had taken off for the day. He didn't bother to let us know that.

Wednesday, I called him around 12:30. He said that he was with customers and asked if I could wait until 1:30. I told him no, because I had to get back to work. It's as if he thought I had nothing better to do than wait around on him all day.

My husband and I both went to Gary Matthews after work Wednesday. Once again, the check had not been signed. He asked us to come back the following day.

Thursday my husband went to visit him. This time, the excuse was that the person that was supposed to sign the check "all of the sudden" took off and went to Florida. So, he asked him to come back the next day.

By this time we both were furious. We are Christians and had been very patient with this matter, but this was plain ridiculous.

Friday morning my husband went to the dealership and FINALLY brought me a check for the bank fees. We would rather have just taken our new vehicle back to them and gotten our old one back, but we were told by others that was impossible to do. We will NEVER by a vehicle from Gary Matthews again, and we certainly don't recommend anyone else to either!
