Gateway Computers - MPC Computers MPC computers purchased 4 yr extended warranty for my laptop model # M250x. Screen is cracked. Gateway ignores my requests and refers me to MPC computers. MPC does not respond or answer phones cannot find online Nampa. Idaho

I purchasesd a gateway laptop computer in 2004. Purchased a 4 yr full extended warranty at the time. Laptop screen cracked. Gateway computers ignores any requests for information and refers me to MPC computers. Cannot find online MPC support and they do not respond to phone calls. I understand that gateway washed their hands of warranty obligations and MPC is bankrupt. Sounds to me as a scripted ploy by gateway to relieve themselves of their warranty obligations. Model M250x.

Extended warranty companies have the world by the a$$....

Extended warranty companies are notorious for disappearing and/ or going out of business.  When an item is bought new, it would generally have a warranty. The extended warranty doesnt cover anything until the OEM warranty expires. This assures the extended warranty company will have no claims for normally a year or so. In the mean time, theyre collecting money for warranty extensions which are, of course, 100% profit. Most selling dealers get  50% of the warranty premium. Wonder why they hawk them so willingly?

This gives the extended warranty "company" usually a year to disappear  with their share of the premium, which they historically do! The dealer makes out like crazy, as the dealer has no liability.  Sorry, the warranty company went out of business. Youre out of luck. Just remember, at this point, the dealer got as much of the premium as the now missing warranty company. Sadly, that has no bearing on your problem. Just more money in the dealers pocket.

i LOVE EXTENDED WARRANTIES

So your lap top screen cracked, have never seen one where a cracked screen wasn't abuse. So no coverage because of that. Gateway told you to go to MPC and that means their warranty has elapsed. So Gateway has no responsiblity from that stand point. MPC sold you an insurance policy ( and that is really what extended warranty is ) against failure of the unit, not abuse, so they don't have to cover it. The are bankrupt, oops that means that nobody gets paid, so no coverage because of that. I really do understand that you have been ripped off, but not by Gateway, but by MPC who took your money and managed their business so poorly that they left you with out coverage, by the way an insider in an interview said that the CEO "drove this company into the ground". Sorry and I hope you didn't think this complaint site would help. And I only got bit on three extended warranty bankruptcies this year :{
