So I brought a car that was financed through Gateway Financial. I didn't know from start that they put a tracker in my car and also a ignition kill switch. My payment is due on the 15th. If it's the 16th they will shut off your car, and make you wait for them to turn it back on.

This last year has been really hard on me with an injury and my company going through a financial issues. They repo my car in May, after I couldn't make payments due to a lay off. I was only a month behind. I had to go out of country to make some money from a side work. I made all the payments to get my car back before I left. I did everything that was supposed to be done. They end up taking my car to one place first. At that place they took all the stuff out my car, tossed my car and removed my license plates. I had to go to that place pay them $75 dollars to get all my things back plus my plates. They wouldn't even give my daughters car seat back without paying them.

Then I had to go to another place which was an auto auction place. This place wanted you to come only by appointment on certain days and at certain times. I was out of country for two weeks. I had my family trying to get my car back with the auction telling them the car was not there. For two weeks this went on with no results of getting the car. Gateway would not help in the process of getting the car back.

Fast forward today. And the same thing has happen. I am a month behind and they take my car again on Wed night. I call on Thursday to try and get my car back. I spoke to someone who said they would call me back in a couple hours. I called back at 2pm and that person had left for the day. On Friday, I call first thing in the morning. Pay all the money to get my car back and still have to wait till either Monday or Tuesday the following week to get my car. Now I am without a car for a whole weekend, with no way to go to the store or take my child to the places she needs to go.

The Facts!

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, November 24, 2016

GPS shutoff equipment is used regulary by subprime deadbeat lenders.  You did not CHOSE to be with a subprime deadbeat lender...you were PLACED with them because banks with a lower APR wanted nothing to do with you!  The reason for that FACT is YOU developed and constructed a verified and documented reputation for NOT paying YOUR bills on time.  What happens while you're with this current lender?  YOU continue in YOUR non-paying, deadbeat ways and YOU turn on their collections machine.  Oh yes, the reason YOU are late with them is somebody else's fault and I'm sure you have dozens of excuses why YOU are late.  Bottom line...the FACTS are YOU signed a contract in which YOU promised to pay on time.  The contract stated there would be consequences for YOU deciding to not pay on time.  The FACT is YOU brought these consequences upon YOURSELF up to and including activation of the cut-off switch and repo.  The only entity to blame is YOU and YOUR continual serial deadbeat mentality.  No, I don't work for them.

NO RIPOFF HERE -- Complainer defaulted on loan and caused their own repo.

Sub-Prime 201 - Advanced Entitlement

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, November 19, 2016

I see you graduated the Intro course in Sub-Prime borrower Entitlements and have moved onto the "Advanced" class.

And for you who can't understand. I am writing about how they don't want to get you your car back to you as fast as they like to take it.

- Really?  In both cases of the Repo you admit you were a month behind.

The first time it took about 2 weeks to get the car back..after who knows how long it took you to pay them, but even by your admission you were out of the Country for part of that time.  The second time it will take you about 5 days after you made your payments.

I'll leave it to you to see if you can figure out what the problem with the above statement you made is.

As for the tough choices.  Yes, you do have to make tough choices.  But when you make the choice you have to accept all of the consequnces.   The fact is that you are lucky, most lenders would have auctioned off the car as soon as the law allowed, which in most states is 10-15 days after the Reposession.  So if they gave you any time above that 10-15 days consider yourself lucky.

Unfortunatly, in your case it appears that the only thing that will force you to make the payments is if they take the car first.

I like when you don't know everything

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Friday, November 18, 2016

So let's start here. For the people who seem to know everything. I work for a startup company that has had financial issues. The first repo that's I had was cause my job had a temporary layoff from March to beginning of June. As soon as I got the money from working side work I was able to get the car back. Second when they brought us back to work. We came back at 60 % pay. So paying a car note, rent plus the rest of my bills and also putting food on my child's table doesn't all come out when you are make 40 percent less than usual. When we where supposed to get paid on the 15th they had to hold are checks due to issues. So that's why I couldn't get my payment in when it was due again. Sometimes you have to make a choice of what's more important. And for you who can't understand. I am writing about how they don't want to get you your car back to you as fast as they like to take it.

Typical Sub-Prime Borrower

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, November 18, 2016

Here is the simple solution..just make your loan payment when you are supposed to.

No that's too easy right?  You instead want to be the typical sub-prime borrower with the typical "entitlement" attitude.

You are the typical sub-prime borrower who figures that regardless of what you signed, you have every right to change the legal agreement and they just have to accept it...because you said so.  Who cares if there was nothing in the agreement that said you only had to pay if you could.  Who cares if there was nothing in the agreement that said you could change it.  You are going to change it anyways.

I can tell you for a fact that if they tried to pull this on you and say you now owe your payments 2 days earlier, you would be here screaming "Class Action Lawsuit" and how they can't just change the contract.  Even though you are doing the exact same thing.

Oh and don't say that you don't have the money because as proven by your statements..you paid ALL of the money required within just about a day(and I bet it would have been sooner if you were able to contact them).  This proves one thing...you had the ability to get the money to pay...you just CHOOSE not to until they took their legal steps to take the car.  Yes, it may not have been easy.  You may have had to make a tough choice.  But guess what no one ever said life was easy or always fair.  Not only that but I would bet that had you paid them BEFORE they took it, you would probably have saved the additional Repo Fees.

So now with TWO repo's on your credit you are going to be in this Sub-Prime status for many years to come. As it doesn't matter if you got your car back...it is still a Repo and still on your credit.

Oh and NO I do not work for this or any other car dealer, finance company or bank.
