Show customers why they should trust your business over your competitors...

I moved into my residence nearly six months ago and within the first thirty days began receiving debt collection calls from a number of companies for Steven. Of course I do not know a Steven, and clearly they have the wrong number. After corresponding with a number of these companies and requesting they remove my number, all but one of the seven agencies persisted. GC Services. I have notified them in writing and spoken to multiple representatives. The calls continue, they come before 8am and after 10pm. I realize this is a clear violation of the FDCPA laws - but how do you get them to stop? I notified them that I was recording the conversation and they hang up. Most recently I spoke to Mr. Lane who said they removed a number in November as requested, but that it was not my number. This is a vicious and annoying cycle that must be illegal? What gives?

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Personally, I'd sue them.

AUTHOR: J G Shrugged - (U.S.A.)

If you put it in writing (certified I hope), then you're on the right side of the law.

You're lucky. At one time they filed for status in your state, so they have an in-state address to serve. (Their right to do business in OH appears to be expired)

here's their original filing:

#2 Consumer Suggestion

If you have notified them in writing to cease communications and they still call

AUTHOR: Laurie - (U.S.A.)

and you sent it certified mail - return receipt (proof of delivery) and they are still calling - you can sue them in small claims court for violating Fair Debt Collection Practice Act.

You need the proof of delivery in court to prove harrassment.

You can also file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission.

"General Collection Services is consistent violator of FDCPA and FCRA in their inability to follow the law. A longtime collector for American Express, their continued ability to keep that plum client is a mystery - until you see how it's done by reading comments from consumers"
