In December of 2005 I ordered a jacket online using my JC Penney Mastercard which is owned by GE Money Bank. After finding out the jacket was on backorder I cancelled the order with the merchant.

The charge never credited back to my account. After having no luck with the merchant, I disputed the charge. It seems pretty open and shut. There is a charge on my card for a jacket that I never got. The merchant does not claim they shipped it. They admit it was cancelled. Yet almost a year later it has not been resolved.

I have been getting the runaround the whole time. Their customer service department is a joke. They have no power to do anything. They can't even look at the dispute in the computer. All they see is a note that there is a disputed charge.

So I asked them for a phone number for the dispute department. I was told that they don't have telephones, but I was given a fax number. I faxed a letter to them but got no response.

At one point I got a letter from the dispute department asking for the charge reference number.Icalled customer service to get it,and was told that all charges I made in December and half of January have disappeared from their computer records (funny that they didnt disappear from my account balance).

This company is totally indifferent to my situation. Do not get a credit card from them. One of the great benefits of using a credit card is knowing that if you have a problem with the purchase you have someone to go to. But GE Money Bank will not hold that end of the bargain with you.

BULLS**T !!!!!

I have disputed charges as well as unauthorized changes to my mailing address and GEMB has refused repeatedly to even address them at all.

I was even sent proof of the unauthorized address change - they sent me all my statements. 2007 statements have the correct address - 2008 statements it is removed. They still claim with proof already sent to me that they did not remove PO BOX from my account records. YES THEY DID!

GEMB PADS THEIR BILLS WITH LATE FEES, BOUNCED CHECK CHARGES AND ADDED INTEREST

Internet complaint boards are full of this very same complaint! Hundreds in the US alone, Thousands if you include all the international complaints as well.

GEMB fiscal irresponsibility is why we are in the economic crises now.

TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER
If GEMB has not yet resolved the issue yet - File formal complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and the Office of Thrift Supervision. You have to file complaints so the Government regulatory agencies can make them fix it.

you had me with u untill u said GEMB "lost" dec and january's charge records.

if that actually happened, there would be a huge news story like just recently when there was a security tape destroyed which was thought to be misplaced inside the building. when the news got ahold of it is was blasted all over msnbc/etc that some one hacked the computers and stole everyones information.

im calling half truth.

did you respond to the dispute packet that was sent to you in the mail?? if you didnt then u acknowledged the charges as legitimate and need to refile the dispute.

i hear this story all day every day and 99 percent of the time the cardholder didnt fulfill their responsibility
