Why do reputable name American companies, with decades of existence and technological experience allow their names to be trashed by permitting worthless, questionable, foreign companies use their names and trademarks? Back in April 2008, I purchased a rather pricey two-line phone with answering system bearing the name of RCA Visys. It was to replace a two-line phone unit I had used for many, many years in my home, which, unfortunately, failed. I assumed the new RCA unit would have some longevity, since it bore a name known and reputable in electronics and technology. The RCA phone arrived and was put into service. Unfortunately, this FIRST unit failed in 10 months, and it was returned to THOMPSON in February '09, following their directions, immediately after a REPLACEMENT (SECOND) unit was received.


In the last month, 09 -'10 this second replacement unit failed. I called the company, explained the situation, gave the rep the dates of the original purchase, dates of receipt of the replacement, and what information I could regarding the current problem, including dates. The rep gave me an RMA authorization number along with the email address to contact, and other information regarding the return of this SECOND unit.


Most recently when I called regarding progress on the return, the rep told me that because the FIRST unit was purchased in 2008, and more than one year had passed and the warranty had expired, nothing could be done about the SECOND unit ! INCREDIBLE! First they give you an RMA number, then they renege on their return information. The company rep just put me off. She said she would escalate my matter whatever THAT means! After I demanded several times what she meant by escalate, she explained that it would be passed on to higher personnel. I assume so that THEY can ignore it as well!


SO BEWARE!  RCA GE Thompson whoever they are they DO NOT have the wherewithal to produce QUALITY products, nor keep to their word!


Dont take it just from ME. See the other RIPOFF Reports about the company, the report from the Texas Post Office indicating Thompson Company return products being left unclaimed in their office, and other consumer complaints!    STAY AWAY  FROM  RCA!
