I was driving down Tidewater Dr. in Norfolk, VA, I stopped at a stoplight and when the light turns green, I proceeded down the street and an SUV cuts me off from the left and I collide with the back end of his car. The police are called but no tickets were given. I call my insurance company and a couple of days later I receive a phone call from a claims adjuster, she proceeds to tell me that because I hit him in the back of his car, I am automatically to blame. I tell her that he came from nowhere and cut in front of my car. obviously I shouldn't have said "nowhere" because this makes it seem like I didn't know what I was talking about, but the truth is that I did not see him until the collision had happened. I took pictures of my car and did a diagram of the accident on Geico's claim site. The other car driver claimed that he was waiting in the turning lane to make a turn when I crashed into him. The damage to the other driver's car was minimal. I am told by the claims adjuster that the other car was definitely where he said he was.

I explained to the claim adjuster that if I had crashed into him driving at a speed of 30 M.P.H. there would have been far more damage on his car if he was simply sitting and waiting to turn, but because he was moving in front of me at the time his car automatically has less damage. After uploading the pictures of my crashed car and completing a diagram of the accident on Geico's website I receive a call back from the adjuster explaining that they received the pictures and that they would simply pay for both of the cars. A couple of days later I receive mail from Geico explaining that I was completely at fault. I call my adjuster back and ask her about this, she tells me that this is correct and denies ever making the statement that they would pay for both cars. I tell her that everything that she said has been written down.

This is the second time that someone has cut me off from the left and both times the result has been the same. The last time that this happened I had stopped at a stop sign which gave me enough time to look behind to see if anyone was coming, I proceeded to drive along and again another car pulled in front of me and I collided with the back of his car. I again call Geico but this time I was very surprised because the claim adjuster was very very rude with me and blatantly called me a liar and told me that I couldn't have stopped, I ask him how was he for sure and he proceeded to call me a liar. He was very uncouth and outrageous with me.

I believe that Geico has denied my claim because the damage of my car is far greater than the damage of the other drivers damage, whom also had Geico as his insurance. Geico wants to save their own finances and pay as little as possible. I would like everyone to know that if they don't like being treated like trash then they should avoid Geico at all costs. And for those who have had no problem's please consider yourself lucky. By the complaints made about Geico, it looks like I've made a horrible decision by choosing them for my insurance company. In many ways they are a rip off. By keeping this prehistoric idea that a claimant is automatically at fault because they crash into the back of someone's car, there will never be any justice for those cars that are/were suddenly cut off from the front.

I understand that there will be disputes with every insurance company, but it shows integrity when an insurance company fights for the justice of every claimant, instead of just tossing it to the side or just going with the car with less damage. It has nothing to do with receiving money, people had already been banging my car up far before the crash, it's about responsibility. Because of Geico's negeligence I am currently searching for a company that might show me that they are not just concerned about their own finances but the justice of those that make payments to them. Geico is just not the place for me, although I will have to wait a while for the switch to another company, I need to know from anyone that can say, which company is best in regards to integrity and care.  I will pay more for better service.

I have had to deal with Geico's negligence and rudeness for quite a while and their incompetence has caused me a lot of grief and many headaches. I don't mind driving a terrible looking car, but I do mind paying a company for there negligence and inconsideration.

Geico Is The Worst Insurance Company Ever!!

Two Accidents?

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 21, 2013

Had you had one accident your account of the situation may have a bit more weight.  But you have had 2 accidents with apparently the exact same circumstances makes it seem like there is something more here.

Not knowing the exact situation, circumstances, or cars involved it is quite possible for the car you hit to have less damage.  Your previous accident is very strange as well.  You stated you stopped at a Stop Sign and looked behind you?   Why would you do that?  Left..yep, Right..yep..but behind???  Were you making a left from a non-left turn lane?  For the guy to go around you, and cut you off he would have literally had to go around and then slam on his brakes as soon as he got in front.

Anyways,  GEICO is not a court of law.  If you really think that you were not at fault..go after the driver in Small Claims Court.  If you can convince a judge that you were not at fault, he would order the other driver to pay for your damage.  It would then be up to him to pay you, or get on Geico's case to pay you.  Although if you do go to court I probably wouldn't mention the first accident in the same circumstances.

Oh and as for changing insurance companies.  With 2 At Fault accidents you are probably going to find that your rates won't be the best.  But perhaps you will cover that in your next RipOff Report.
