I utilized a program called Fast For Word through Gemm Learning because I'm dyslexic. Within the first 2 weeks of service, I was skeptical and was going to cancel service. However, I was told by one of the representatives that if the program didn't work after the 6 months I could get a full refund.  So I figured I would try it!

During the 6 months of the program, I completing the games with much success. However, my reading was not improving in real life.  The games focus on your attention, memory, phonemic awareness, fluency, etc.  I noticed some changes. I was able to focus more. I still have the same reading problems as before. I substitute and omit words. I may say a word that is totally unrelated to the text. Some days, I mess up really bad even more now than before. I am not satisfied with program because it was ineffective. I gained little of anything. The "gains" that I made are inconsistent. I have expressed this several times, but the program director doesn't seem to genuinely care. 

I was told that with time, I will continue to make improvements but that wouldn't the case. I still struggle with reading. Fast For Word was a waste of time. I want my money back so I can spend it on a program that works.      

I'm currently looking for a lawyer because I didn't make significant gain and I was promised by the staff that I could get a refund. I have the voicemail stating what the woman said. I feel like that program preyed on my weak. Gemm learning lead me to believe, their program would get to the underlying problem of dyslexia and the gains would last forever.

I am sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your experience at Gemm Learning.  I know our team bent over backwards to help you, and according to our pre- and post-testing you made a gain of 2+ years in your reading while you were with us.  This gain should be apparent in your day-to-day reading.  I am sorry you are not feeling it.

As you  know, we issued a refund to you promptly -- in fact according to our notes, the refund was issued on the same day 3 months ago when you posted the complaint on this website.  This post only came to our attention yesterday. 

We issued a full refund even though (1) according to our testing you made a gain, meaning a refund was not warranted, and (2) the refund was issued after you took advantage of our normal guarantee provision which is 3 free months of an alternative service, BrainWare Safari.  Our rep mis-spoke though, offering you a full refund and you were unhappy, and so we made the refund promptly. 

We are proud of what we are achieving at Gemm Learning, including our very high client satisfaction rate.  It disappoints me that you left us unhappy.  It is even more disappointing that you think of us as a "rip-off" given all the work various staff members put into trying to help you over several months. 

We generally have fantastic results with Fast ForWord.  You are one of the very few who do not recognize the gains in themselves and you are one of the far less than 1% of clients who invoke our guarantee or request a refund.  Best of luck with your reading --  I hope you are seeing improvements now.
