GENERAL RV  BUYER BEWARE ! Horrible customer service and unethical business practices. If you can help, please contact us, we are exasperated and amazed at the lack of response from General RV.

We purchased a used 2016 Thor Palazzo from General RV in Dec 2016 and as of now NO TITLE OR TAGS !! Major complaints. All proof and documents can be provided.

1 The odometer was showing approximately 7000 miles less than actual miles on the vehicle with no placard or sticker of warning.

2 As of this complaint writing 5/10/2017 we still do not have tags or title on a vehicle purchased at the end of last year Dec 2016. We have been making payments for the RV, insurance and storage on a vehicle that we cannot legally drive.

We have visited the dealership and made numerous calls to the local dealership speaking to Bryan Beck and Steve Ratcliffe as well as headquarters in Michigan speaking to Chris Davis and given excuse after excuse as to why the delay has been so long.

It seems that General RV never even filled the paperwork until March or sent payment in for tags until May 2017.

3. At the time of purchase, Bryan Beck Finance manager used fictitious income amounts to get loan approved. He inflated our income by over 100,000 to make the deal happen saying that Bank of America allowed him to inflate income due to us owning property.

We have reached out many times to the local General RV dealership and corporate for them to either take the Rv back and we pay for usage, or provide us with tags/title and compensate losses, but all  to no avail.

5 months later, still no tags or title from General RV

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Monday, May 15, 2017

As of today 5/15/2017   General RV still has not provided tags or title from the 2016 Thor Palazzo purchased in Dec 2016.

Requests for help or knowledge of what is going on is falling on deaf ears.    Out of exasperation, I have created a website https://generalrvbuyerbeware.com/  sharing my side of the story in hopes that General RV will seek to resolve this amicably.

Instead, they are still giving excuses as to why no tags or title on 132,000 used RV.     The did deny the mileage issue on BBB complaint, so I provided photos  of odometer.  This biggest issue is that 5 months later, we still have no tags and they give us excuse after excuse.   I called NC dmv and the woman I spoke didn't even have knowledge that they had been applied for.  It doesn't look good as 1 day to overnight paperwork to DMV and 1 day back. Even with processing time, if they truly had the title and had filled in January 2017, this should have been resolved months ago.

I pray that they even had the title in their possession and all this run around is just stalling the inevitable that we are out everything.

If you can help, please give me a call and let's talk on the phone.

General RV. David I've got a couple of questions for you

AUTHOR: RV dealer fraud Investigator - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, May 15, 2017

David I've got a couple of questions for you.  Has your dealership resolve this issue yet ?   Let me give everybody some advice about RVs in the RV industry

When you thinking about buying a motorhome remember it's not like buying a car by no means nor is it like buying a house.   Let me explain.   When RV dealerships for the most part put motorhomes up for sale on their lot that are brand-new. In many cases is the process.

RV dealership place his order for new coaches to come to the lot  from the manufacture  The RV manufacture start shipping RVs that are brand-new to the RV dealership.   Sometimes the RV manufacturer will choose what they want to ship to a particular dealership based upon their sales history.   In many cases the RV dealership will refuse  to pay their mechanics to run the RV dealership into their service department and go through a complete predelivery inspection to make sure everything works before they place it on the lot.

So when a customer goes to an RV dealership of their choice sometimes they will be looking at coaches that have never been checked out.   You hop in that new motorhome and take it for a test drive to see if it has the ability to make you a happy camper.   You're so excited about test driving this brand new motorhome not paying attention as to what's really going on because you refuse to do your homework.   The salesman get you excited that you're getting this new bus to take home and park in your driveway and go camping it become that happy camper that you've always decided to be.

some people go to RV show and sales.  You know the ones I'm talking about the ones it all for free parking and free admission to get you excited to go out there and look at all of the campers that are on the market for sale they have them in Phoenix all the time it seems like every three or four weeks there's another RV tent event.   Remember free parking and Fried mission in my book is a warning light.

You saying all kinds of documentation when you agreed to make a purchase of a motorhome from a dealership of your choice.   Soon you're going to be taking that motorhome on the shakedown cruise.   You better bring a large notepad, Because you're going to need it.  Because no one checked out the motorhome before you agreed to buy it  and I'm willing to bet that there's going to be a lot of things that are wrong with the coach that the dealership didn't even know about and if they did they probably wouldn't tell you.  I mean think about it do you know what dealership that wants to tell you something that might ( crap you out ) and prevent you from buying the motorhome ?

Show me any documentation after you purchase a motorhome new or used that reveals to you the results of the LP gas system being checked out and the test results printed on a piece of paper that show you the operating pressures and the leak down pressures and how long the leak down test took.

Let me explain something most motorhome dealers do not do LP gas system leak tests,  most of the time it's only for customers willing to pay to have it done and Derby dealership has someone on their staff in their shop that know what the hell they're doing.   Let me explain the importance of LP gas leak tests.

Let's say for instance that you go down to a RV propane service station and get 1 gallon of propane  pumped into your empty tank.   Now that LP gas of 1 gallon that's in your tank if it is released into the atmosphere  it expands from 1 gallon of liquid to 270 gallons of explosive vapor   That's the expansion rate of propane  One liquid gallon is equal to 270 gallons of explosive vapor.

Think about this for a second let's say you go down and you have 50 gallons of propane pumped into your new tank   If that 50 gallons of propane is leaked into the atmosphere or leaked inside of your motorhome because your motorhome has a propane leak that nobody detected that 50 gallons of propane that's in the tank is in liquid form when it's released into the air it becomes 13,500 gallons of explosive vapor.  50 gallons X  270 is  equal to 13,500 gallons gallons  of explosive vapor.  Think about the size of explosion if your  motorhome  has a propane leak.......

No I'm sure that many people will not read the above paragraph and not focus on what I'm talking about.

Hey some of the things that you should look for When buying a motorhome  not after you buy it.

1.  Do you know what you're going to do with the motorhome,  how are you going to use it

2.  Where are you going to park it because sometimes it could be very expensive  to store it and RV storage facility if you do not have a place to park it.

3.  What type of motor home do you need to purchase based upon your plans of use.  Are you going to buy a small trailer ?  maybe you're going to buy a class C motorhome.  Or maybe you're going to buy a class a motorhome.   Maybe just maybe you might buy a toy hauler.   Do you know the difference ?????

4.  How are you going to pay for it are you going to finance it ?  Are you going to pay cash for it ?  If you're going to finance it or pay cash for it do your homework before you sign any document Tatian because you might be paying way more than the coaches actually worth and remember if you're going to finance it mini financing companies do not care that you pay more than the coach is actually worth because they make more interest off of you if you are a fool and pay way more than the coach is actually worth.

5  when you fill out the document Tatian to buy the motorhome I don't know of an RV dealership that will give you a copy of your credit application that you personally filled out.   Now I know that many people don't care about having a copy of the credit application because whatever they write on the credit application is knowledge inside of their head.    It's very important to have a copy of the credit application in your possession amongst all the other documents that you will get copies of.   the reason I tell you this is because there are RV dealership finance managers that will place you in to a fraudulent RV LOAN.  During my years of being an expert witness in the RV industry I've caught many RV dealerships placing customers in fraudulent RV loans.   In other words the RV dealerships finance manager did not tell the truth to the lender about your income and they will lie in some cases to the lender to make the Linder think that you have more income than you actually do.   They do this because they want you to get approved so they will bend the truth about your monthly income so you will qualify for what you are Brian even though you don't  qualified.

If you have a copy of the credit application in your possession and you contact the lender to get a copy of the credit application information that they got from the dealership and they do not match you have proof  that's somebody at the dealership did not tell the lender the truth.   The last thing you want to do is be a part of a fraudulent RV loan. When buying a motorhome or a car make sure that you get copies of everything that you Sign..  if you don't you are the fool.

6.  Before signing the documents to buy a motorhome ask the  Service department to give you copies of the predelivery inspection to make sure everything is been completely checked out and ask them what the operating pressures of the propane system are   On the coach that you are buying.   Ask them to show you printed results of all of the testing and the predelivery inspection before you buy the motorhome.

 7.  If you plan to buy a motorhome here are a couple things you need to do first before you even go to a dealership.   Make sure that you know where you're going to park the motorhome after you own it.  Do you personally have RV storage for this motorhome you plan to buy ?  How much is the insurance going to cost you a smart insurance agent is going to want to know what you're going to buy before they give you a quote,  so don't let a salesman talk you into buying something until you find out how much the insurance is going to cost you before you sign any documentation to purchase the motorhome.   If you don't have storage you better call around to find out how much it's going to cost you to store your motorhome at an RV storage facility you might be shocked how much you're going to pay on a monthly basis even if you don't use the motorhome

8.  Now let's talk about buying used motorhomes if you want to save some money.   If you are a fool do not read this paragraph.   The best way to get a great deal on the motorhome is to buy one from somebody that's paying for it to be stored someplace and they're not using it anymore they want to get rid of it because they do not want to pay for the maintenance and upkeep and the insurance and the storage costs.   Sometimes those people don't even know the true market value of the motorhome they plan to sell.   So go to these RV storage facilities and ask them if they know of any RVs that is currently being stored there that might be for sale.   Most of those people that are paying for those things to be stored someplace in paying for the insurance and the Maintenance are probably willing to give you a smoking deal just to get rid of it.

9 If you own a motorhome and you need it repaired don't be the mooch  be willing to pay to have things fixed properly and be willing to pay someone to do at least once a year a propane leak check and operations check,  to make sure you are sleeping in a safe environment.

10  remember motor homes depreciate faster than anything you can think of.  So don't be a sucker and overpay for something that's going to drop in value very quick.

 11. Let me give you some inside information that you probably don't know in an RV dealership would not tell you.   Back in 1958 a senator name Mike Monroney past the Monroney  law   This law only applies to cars in liget duty trucks you  know what I'm talking about I hope THE MSRP sticker   RV dealerships do not have to play by this particular law.  RV manufactures do stick  The MSRP's  on motorhomes but the dealerships in many cases are quick to tear them off of the window.   If the coach has a sticker price of $200,000 a sticker from the RV manufacture some RV dealerships will take that one off and placed one on there for $245,000 to make you think that the price is actually $245,000 and then show you what discount of saying $35,000 to make you think that you're getting a great deal.   It's a numbers game and many  RV bUber's fall for for it.

12.  Before buying a motorhome talk to a friend of yours that has one that's had it for many years or that had many different motorhomes.   Talk to people that I've owned them for many years learn from their experiences don't be the fool to go out and buy one and learn from your own mistakes,  not doing your homework will cost you a s**t load of money.

13.  David this message is for you did you get this title issue resolved ????

I hope that you will spend the time to post a update as to what's really going on with your coach purchase.   If it has not been resolved yet you need to contact your department of  Motor vehicle sales in your state.  If for some reason the deal has to be unwound make sure that you get a full refund and if you do not you are the sucker.   I do hope that you will spend the time to update this report and let me know what's going on.

I truly hope that I've helped people with this posting.   Please everyone do your homework before you buy a motorhome do your research it will save you thousands of dollars in many headaches.

Attorneys in the past I've hired me to be an expert witness in  lawsuits regarding RV dealers and RV buyers.  I could write a book on it but I don't have the time.  The founder of this website knows me very well and if he ever contact me because a victim of an RV dealer scam has a attorney and needs help he will  help you and your lawyer get in touch with me.   The bottom line is wake up do your research before you play part with your money like a fool.
