Genesis Van Lines Slow and dishonest services from Genesis Van Lines Chatsworth California

Ok, I recently also went through an experience with Genesis Van Lines that I would like to share. Unfortunately we booked them without looking online first, and we were stuck with our choice... stuck waiting for our stuff for a long time.

When it came time to pick our stuff up, they were decent and friendly for the most part. They did charge $40 extra to tape some cardboard to my TV though, even though we had already wrapped it up ourselves. Apart from that though, they didn't hit us with hidden fees or anything. Then they were gone with my boxes of stuff, and said I should get everything no later than 14 business days.

I made my move, 14 business days came and went, and still, no stuff. No call from the driver, no indication from anyone. So I called the dispatch. Word was they were in Chicago, on their way. A couple days later I call again, I'm told they're in Pennsylvania, on the way. Next time I call, supposedly they're coming up from NYC (I'm in Upstate NY). It seemed every time I called, dispatch was trying hard to get me off the phone quick, giving me the run-around, so to speak.

Then the next day, I get a phone call directly from the driver, saying he has picked up my stuff, and is on his way from New Mexico. Mind you, this is business day 17 or 18, and his info doesn't match anything that the dispatch told me. I questioned him (the driver himself was actually a nice guy, and sounded like the very first person I had dealt with this entire time that actually seemed honest and genuine), apparently he was subcontracted BY Genesis Van Lines, had just picked up all my boxes from Arizona (where they had just been sitting, for weeks now), and was just leaving to come to me in NY.

Business day 22, over a month since the day my stuff was first picked up, the truck finally arrived. The driver communicated with me on a regular basis, and nothing was damaged in the trip. They didn't hit me with any ridiculous fees either.

So all in all my experience was mixed. Genesis as a company lied to me, strung me along, and brushed me off every time I called. That sucked. But the actual driver was cool - in fact, he was shocked to hear how long my stuff had been sitting before he picked it up, and even made an extra effort to get to me quickly through terrible rainstorms as he crossed the country.

So, if you're in no hurry whatsoever, sure, go with Genesis. Personally, I had some very, VERY important documents in my boxes, and the fact that they took over twice as long as planned to arrive caused me extreme personal stress. That, and I also had some business equipment packed up, and the fact that it arrived so late cost me some jobs and as a result, money.

Personally, I'd say go with someone else. I never got the name of the other company that was subcontracted to actually bring me stuff, but yeah - Genesis Van Lines lied to me, several times.
