I was too persuaded to join a woman's personal training facility, but after 2 days I realized this wasn't for me.  Surprisingly the money was already taken out of my account the day I wrote the $1500 check!  I cancelled my contract within 3 days according to Florida State law over the phone and by letter (delivered by my husband).  Mr. Wilkins/Williams informed me the $ would be returned according to his contract with in 1-2 weeks.

I contacted him on the 2nd week and he said the money was coming from his accountant in California and it should be here soon.  I told him I was calling to make sure there was no problem and he said "no problem".

The 3rd week goes by and I called him again.  He didn't answer my numerous calls until I blocked my number so he didn't know who was calling.  When he answered he said he would call his accountant and call me back in 2 hrs.  At this point I went to the gym to find out that it was closed down and vacant.  I remembered he said he was relocating down the street so my husband and I took a ride and came up empty.   So I called him again.  I told him I was very concerned about the postings that I had just read on line regarding his rip off scheme and he said that they were people who cancelled after the 3 day Florida Law.  I told him I was giving him 1 more week and then contacting a lawyer.  He started yelling at me and telling me I was threatening him and to go ahead and get a lawyer and that I wouldn't see the money and I'd have to take him to court!

My plan is to get his name out there and we need to group together to regain our money!  This man needs to be stopped!!!  The problem is not many people research personal trainers before obtaining one, so I was too late in reading everyone elses post!

Shame.....

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, June 25, 2011

Hello, I'm sorry to hear about what occurred between you and the owner of this particular facility/gym. I was most interested in that your story was recently posted yesterday, June, 24, 2011. I have read several different previous posts on this site regarding this individual, and how a majority of the women met him online. Namely match.com. This is my story, it is short and sweet as I put the kibosh on any possible meeting(s) between myself and this so called graduate from Stanford Law school. Ummm, no, I don't think so dear. I wish most women would be more observant such as myself, but I realize that everyone is different. I met "Jay" while checking my messages on BPM (blackpeoplemeet.com), a social networking dating site. He initiated contact by sending a message expressing interest in communicating on June, 23, 2011. As I recall, his subject title was: "Finally, a cute black woman". I thought it was sweet to say the least, but wasn't blushing away by this. That night while still logged on to the site, we began exchanging instant messages (also initiated by him). During our exchange, he asked for my number, which I willing gave. He immediately calls, and maybe 2 or 3 minutes into the conversation, says to me: "Wow! And she's articulate". This guy THINKS (and maybe even believes) that he is a charmer, but that could not be farther from the truth. I noticed right away that he is a bonafide narcissist, as he only spoke of himself and about "his company", the money he'd invested, his past NFL career (said he played for Atlanta and Seattle) ....blah, blah, blah. He never asked questions of me that showed ANY real interest.....RED FLAG #1! I told him that I was a member of Lifestyle Family Fitness, and he bad mouthed them, saying they knew nothing about personal training and that I should visit his facility. During our brief conversation he gave the address of his gym. This is where things get interesting because once he'd provided me with the name of his gym, GITFIT on 5038 West Linebaugh Ave, here in Tampa, FL, I immediately went into snoop mode. I had a friend assist me in verifying his business, which were indeed able to confirm that he did in fact own said business. During our search inquiry, we were also able to ascertain his name. I logged on to www.hcso.tampa.fl.us and proceeded with an arrest search inquiry.  I found he had an extensive arrest record such as, driving while license revoked habitual offender, loitering and prowling, & the shocker, sexual battery domestic violence. Needless to say, there was noooooo meeting. I texted Mr. James Elbert Williams aka "EJ", and advised him to cancel out any possibility of ever seeing me, as I'm not into meeting/ and or dating ex-convicts. He texted back trying to explain his side of the story, but by this time as you can imagine, I was done. Ladies beware!!!!!  This "man's" modus operandi is probably to cruise the social networking dating scenes lurking for potential victims.  Fortunately I was lucky, others may not be so lucky.
