For months I have been having trouble with inferior Gillette Mach III razor blades, which I had been using for years. I was only getting three shaves out of them. So I tried Schick Quatro razor blades- same thing out of two packs. I went through two other brands- a supermarket brand and Bic (the Bic blades would not even fit the razor handle!) and finally Wilkinson Sword Tech 4. They are great blades and last me at least two weeks but now suddenly Wal-Mart seems to be closing them out. I can still get them online though. Wilkinson's blades are manufactured in Solingen, Germany, a city famous for knife manufacturers of high grade steel; this may make the difference.
I would like to know if other people are noticing this problem also. It needs to be publicized.

update on Wilkinson Sword razor cartridges

The parent company of Wilkinson Sword and Schick, Energizer, has pulled a smoothie to siphon our pockets some more. Due to their poor quality Schick cartridges were no doubt suffering in sales (as probably Gillette's are also). So they decided to withdraw Wilkinson from the US market and merchadise the cartridges as Schick Quatro. You can confirm this by checking a cartridge pack out at your local store- in fine print they say made for Wilkinson in Solingen, Germany, just as Wilkinson's were. But they're charging three or four more bucks for a 4-pack of Quatros than we were paying for Wilkinson Tech 4 cartridges at Wal-Mart. Can't remember what I was paying for them as all Wilkinson products've been off the shelves for a month or so and nobody else in Cleveland carrys Wilkinson.
Now here's one thing you can do to save if you use these cartridges- or want to give them a try because of shitty Gillette or Schick blades. There's a company on Amazon currently selling closeout Wilkinson Tech 4 cartridges at $11.99 per 8-PACK with FREE SHIPPING! I ordered from them and used some already and they're the exact Wilkinson product made in Solingen, but the vendor says they're a closeout and they won't be able to get any more. They have maybe 5 dozen 8-PACKS left- so I just ordered two dozen andput the word out to all my friends online. Including state sales tax at Wal-Mart (now 8% in Ohio) I calculate I'm saving $201 over what I'd have to pay for them retail even at Wal-Mart. Of course you'd need a Schick Quatro handle to fit the cartridges.
Don't know if Rip-Off will let their URL go through because this is really advertising for a company but they're saving you big money if youwant to go for it and act quickly. The company is called RX Cosmetics and you can find them by checking Amazon for Wilkinson Sword tech-4 cartridges. Bew sure to get the one with free shipping- there's another company advertising but they charge chiping. Here's their URL:

After further online research, it seems that Wilkinson Sword and Schick are tied up in the same company, owned by Energizer. So I wonder what's behind the local Wal-Mart suddenly no longer stocking Wilkinson razors or refills? Is this a move by Schick to cut the competition? Can anyone else still buy Wilkinson Sword razors and blades in their local stores of national chains? The Tech 4 is a very good blade.
