I own a 2002 BMW and had a 100K mile service plan through BMW. The plan required the car to have 15K mile service intervals. On each service visit, I used the same service advisor. I asked on each visit about the condition of the car. Everything was always fine. No problems.

At 99K miles, I also asked the service advisor to have the technician to really give the car a close inspection. Again, no problems! (service RO states the brake fluid was changed)

I returned the car for its 115K mile service and a left rear tail light was not working properly. The service advisor found plenty on this trip without even being asked! (Over $3500.00) A laundry list of repair needs was presented to me, (most of which the car had no indication it needed) including a severe oil leak and an estimate of over $500.00 for tail light repair because they didnt know how far they would have to go to find the problem.

I returned home and took my car to an import repair facility. I left the car and explained I wanted the oil leak fixed. The facility called me back 2 hours later and asked, "What oil leak?"

I also looked up "2002 BMW tail light problem" on the internet. I found a BMW blog web site that had the simple 2 page instruction sheet called a Bulletin from BMW on how to replace the ground wire on the tail light. I fixed it myself in 30 seconds!

The car now has 130K miles. I took it to an import repair facility because the brake wear indicator light came on. Remember! The car has had every service at BMW for 115K miles. 99K miles under their service plan! Upon a complete inspection we found the following: Cabin air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, and serpentine belt is the original. NEVER CHANGED! Brake pads replaced under service plan were aftermarket pads! Brake fluid needs flushing! (was documented as being done at 99K miles! @ Global Imports!)

NEVER AGAIN GLOBAL! If you have a BMW being serviced at Global, be afraid! VERY AFRAID!
