Global Point Products doesn't honor any repair or replacement warranty, located in Farmington , New York

I received the camera on X-mas as a gift, and out of the package it did not work or power up. I called the retailer at which the camera was sold, and they told me I must contact the manufacturer. Once I contacted the manufacturer, they informed me that they didn't make the camera anymore, and because the camera was a gift, that they had no liability concerning repairs or replacement. They stated they do not have a comparable camera to provide me, and told me that i was not there customer, that there customer was the retailer to which they sold the camera. They told me all this despite the fact that the camera's manual clearly states "If you have a problem, DO NOTRETURN THIS CAMERA TO THE RETAILER."

The customer service rep and well as another employee named Erin Doty, denied all responsibility for the defective nature of the product. Then proceeded to tell me theydidn't make the camera anymore, so they were sure the warranty expired, but to my understanding, a product is warrantied by a manufacturer and not the retailer. The warranty an manual clearly stated they would repair or replace the product, with of course a money order for shipping and handling.

They offered no solution, and even worked to get me off the phone instead of providing any sort of customer satifaction. I believe the reason they stopped making the camera is because the company probably had many problems with the design and concept because a company does not discontinue a product unless they come up with a newer version, it stops selling, or there are so many problems with it that it ios no longer cost effective. I believe the latter is the issue.

I would never buy or accept any products from this company again. The camera was a gift, and it made no difference to them. Their customer service is horrible. I called the first time, left a message, the second spoke to Erin, who stated I would get a called back, and then I waited two days before I called again, and finally got someone on the phone. The company probably has no plans to honor any warranties for any of their products, so I would advise against buying any thing they sell. Although they don't make the camera anymore, they still sell tons of them on Amazon, so beware.

It is a digital model entitled "Trekker Digital Camera." They also have other "Trekker" products. Read the reveiws on the products, and you'll find nothing nice about them. I work for a multi-million dollar military corporation, and if we treated of customers this way(a lot of which is the US Gov't), we would not have any business at all. Please avoid this company's products at all costs.
