On Thursday March the 27th, I have been contacted at home by one of Global Vacation Network (GVN) representatives who introduced herself as Rachel. She told me that I have won an a vacation package that provides two adults with roundtrip airfare to Acapulco, Los Cabos, Cancun, or Cozumel in Mexico. The vacation is for 4days and 3 nights all inclusive deluxe accommodations for two adults at a park royal resort. All meals, drink (including alcohol), activities, and entertainment are included. also shuttle transportation provided. Most importantly, I was promised that I will walk out of that meeting with the vacation Package in my hand. All that will be given to us (my wife and I) if we just agree to attend a presentation that is 90 minutes long.

Usually I don't buy into those kinds of deals very easily, but after talking to Rachel and her boss on the phone for almost half hour and after hearing all kinds of assurances and promises that there are no trickes involved and this is as legitimate as it could get, I said to myself "Well, it could be my lucky day, maybe I won something after all". So I accepted the invitation and set up an appointment for Saturday March the 29th since I was told that Saturday was the last day of the offer and because I agreed to schedule an appointment on such a short notice she told me that I also won a $40 gas voucher that is valid to be used at any major gas station immediatly.

After I hang up the phone I spent about an hour trying to convince my wife to go. Finally my wife decided to go after having to cancel some family plans for the weekend.

So we drove all the way from Battle creek, MI to Grand Rapids, Mi which is 1.5 hour drive using the only 10 gallons of gas that we have for the week because I'm a college student, unemployed, and we are on a budget.

we got there, we filled out a survy then we waited for 25 minutes until the presentation started which was over after 45 minutes later. After that they took evrybody into a big office and a representative was assigned for each couple to get them to sign up on some vacation deals that cost only $96. After listening to the lady for about 10 minute, I asked her " are we going to get the $40 gas voucher today?" and the answer was that there is no such a thing, then I said "what about the vacation package?" she said oh yah, you will get that in about 4 to 6 weeks in the mail.

After a long argument we left feeling stupid and feeling that we have been cheated. On the top of that we wasted the gas that we had for the whole week and we also wasted alot of time and effort, and the most upsetting thing of all is the fact that I was the only one who's being upset about this whole scheme, at least I was the only one who's willing to show that I'm angry about this. In fact there were people actually signing up on the program after they have been already lied to.

I have already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, now this, and there will be more action to follow, if Rippoff Report can help in that regard I will be most appreciative.

New Developments

On april 4th 2008, I have been contacted by Mr. Andrew Lyon who works for GVN. Mr. Lyon apologized for what happend and he promised to fix the unpleasant experience that I had with his company.
Two days later I received my vacation certificate along with three $25 gift cards. Also Mr. Lyon has promised to send a $40 check instead of the gas voucher.
I would like to state my highest regard to Mr. Lyon not because the things he sent but for his honesty and understanding.
Also I must mention that Mr. Lyon explained to me that GVN hires marketing companies to provide them with potential clients. Those marketing companies some time strech the truth to get people to attend the presentations at any cost because that's how they make their money.
All I hope for now is for the vacation to go well without any surprises.

To the people that have complaints about Global Vacation Network.

I think the people that have complaints about Global Vacation Network are complaining about the wrong people. I think they should be complaining about the marketing people that make the calls.

See,how it works is,a marketing group calls someone and sets up an appointment to go to Global Vacation Network. They have been know to STRETCH the truth to get people to make an appointment. See marketors make money based on how many people they get to go.

Once the people get to Global Vacation Network, there is no rushing. If someone wants to investigate them they have computers they can use and look up any thing they want to look up. Also, don't you think a smart person would investigate BEFORE they get there?

As far as putting money down, its a vacation network, wouldn't you think money is going to come up somewhere?

I am seriously thinking about becoming a member of Global Vacation Network. From what I've heard its a good deal for the money you spend. For what you pay for one trip you can have 3 life times of trips. I don't know anywhere nice you can stay for $96.00 a week.
