I've been trying for 2-1/2 months to get GMAC to release MY money for repairs that were made on my home as a result of hurricane damage. I have met each and every demand that they have put in front of me and each time they say it's the last thing they need.
My insurance company refuses to submit another document because they say GMAC's requests are ridiculous. The inspection company they contract with stated that they know of no other client that has been treated like I have been. The inspection was signed off on as 100% complete but they still want another one (one week after the last one).
At one point they were demanding my insurance company have another insurance adjuster re-inspect my house to assess the damages (inspect what, the repairs have already been made)!
After more calls then I care to count, speaking with what feel like every employee in the claims department in both AZ and PA; no-one is willing to take ownership and get this resolved.
The supervisors I've spoken with (Annette & Christina) have given me information that contradicts each other. Asked Christina for the name of the department and division manager (to escalate) and she stated she didn't know who the department or division manager was. Now that's pathetic!
GMAC plays games, they hold your money hostage and do everything they can to benefit from what belongs to you.

Draft Department

I just wanted to give you some insight on how the draft department works. You have the floor reps and then the ones that actually send the drafts. The floor reps are not supposed to 'own the call' and make sure things are done correctly the 1st time, that is what they expect the account reps to do. Each account rep can have hundreds of cases at any given time which in my opinion is too many. The regular floor reps don't really have a support system in place where they can call someone and get help, or make sure something is followed up on. We rely on our peers and hopefully you make a friend of the account reps who do the drafts, that's really all we have.
If the last inspection stated that you would be at 100% if you completed x, then they will require you to do a final inspection, again. Also keep in mind that if you are behind in your regular mortgage payments, they have much more strict requirements.

Question on inspection
AUTHOR: Tagurit - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, October 29, 2011
Has your home been inspected by either your insurance company adjuster or an adjuster from GMAC AFTER the repairs have been made? The reason I ask is that both the insurance company and the mortgage lender must ensure the repairs were properly made to up to standards to retain the value of the property before releasing payment.
If inspection of the completed repairs has been made and is satisfactory and has been provided to GMAC then they must release the funds to you. If this is the case and they are still holding things up or making excuses, call their corporate offices at 215-682-1000 and ask to speak to the executive assistant of either John Albor or Thomas Kern or Charlie Stone. Once you get them on the line explain succinctly what you have done to comply with their requests and that the money is owed to you and you are asking the expedite the process. Tell them they have 14 business days to get the funds to you after which you will get a lawyer involved and they will then have to pay you what they originally owed + your lawyer fees and court costs. Be nice but be firm and clear on your expectations.
Hope this helps.
