I leased a Saturn Vue in March. I instantly set up an automatic payment from my bank account. I got confirmation on the set-up and then a payment notice that said "no remitance required". So of course I am going to assume that it's all set and I have nothing to worry about. Fast forward about 6 weeks when I get a collection agency call AT WORK about my "late" payment. They wanted me to make a payment on the phone for a fee. Of course I said no and immedietaly called GMAC and waited for 20 minutes on hold. Then got hung up on, called back and waited another 30 minutes. I finally talked to someone and found out there was something wrong with the automatic withdraw info.
So, my husband had to call back and wait on hold again for 20 minutes with the "corrected" infomation (apparently, it was marked as a checking account instead of a savings account). He was told "sorry, you can't do that over the phone". so he hung up and tried to set it up on-line again. But because it was already set up he couldn't change it for some reason. Again he calls back and this time gets a different answer. Now the person has to cancel our set-up and then he has to re-do it. He gets transfered to someone who says "no, she can't cancel that, it's not possible". So then that person sets it up and says everything is ok.
1 week later we get a notice saying we are behind 2 payments now and late fees have been assessed (even though we were told that they would be removed). I call back AGAIN and try to straighten things out again. I am assured that it is all set and that late fees will be removed.
1 week later.....I get a letter saying "as you requested, your direct payment has been termintated" AAAAHHHHH!!!!!! WTF? I call AGAIN and they assure me that everything is ok and that they will remove my late fees "as a courtesy". I said "Of course you will remove the late fees and it's not a 'courtesy' since it was all your fault to begin with!".
I am sick of outsourced customer non-service. No one, especially GMAC cares about the customer anymore. I am not convinced that this is the end of my GMAC nightmare. I have been BEGGING them to take my money! Please someone out there...listen to the customer...we are tired of being treated like monkeys pressing buttons on the phone and getting the run-around!
