This is a warning to anyone thinking about using GoDaddy services. I am an existing customer for a few of my domains.

I attempted to use the capture service to capture and move one of my domain names to godaddy. They failed to capture my domain. I called and asked for a refund and they refused. They would rather lose me and my domains as a customer than refund my $18.95. This is a poor business practice. I feel they failed to provide the service I paid for.

After further research, I found that other serviced have a no capture no pay policy.

Not godaddy. They have a get the money from you any way they can and give you back nothing in return policy.

Another thing I found out about go daddy. If you let your domain laps, they put your domain name up for auction.

I will be moving all of my domains to snapnames.com. They seem to care about the customer.

I just want to leave you with this warning. Go daddy is not honest. Look at all the stuff about them here. Don't be a fool. Go find an honest registrar.

GoDaddy Ripoff is a cheat. Warning. Scottsdale Arizona

AUTHOR: Red - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Well Godaddy is at it again. it has been 3 years since I last reported this problem with Godaddy and all my accounts had been closed. For 3 years. Ok, so here is the latest. On Aug. 20th 2008 I get a charge and then a reverse from godaddy for 4.99. Why? Well I called them and they said it was a mistake. All the old accounts were triggered. I told them to remove all my information so that it does not happen again. So 2 days later I find that because I did not have sufficient funds in the bank to cover godaddy's mistake I was charged 35.00 insufficient fund fee. So I called go daddy and they recognized the problem and stated that they expected to have to pay some overage charges that had occurred from the mistake. I sent proof of the charge and overage via fax and was told it would take 5 weeks to get the check. This was aug, 22 2008 that I talked to them. oct, 14 2008 I have still not recieved the check. So 7 weeks and I have not received the check. I canned the "office of the president" and after waiting all day, I was told that it has been sent out and If i did not receive it by the end of the week to call them back. At every single conversation with every person I have spoke with, I have been told that my account is still active. Even though I canceled it 3 years ago. I keep telling every person at godaddy to cancel any account I have with them. I do not know what else I am supposed to do. I mean Come on!!!! This is just poor business.

After reading the response from the president here offering me a refund, I called him up and had zero problem. He was extremely polite and took all the information for the refund. I would make one suggestion to the president, Give some of your customer service skills and charm to your customer service department. Thanks Godaddy and thanks rip-off-report.

Domain Back Order Refunds

AUTHOR: Office Of The President - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 08, 2005

Dear Sir or Madam,

The domain back order is part of a greater domain monitoring service that we provide. This service allows you to monitor any activity on a domain name in addition to the capture capabilities it provides. However, we would be willing to refund to you the cost of the failed domain back order. Your report does not provide sufficient identifying information to contact you directly but, you can reach us by phone at (480) 505-8828. If you would prefer, we can also be reached at president@godaddy.com. We look forward to speaking with you soon.

Kindest Regards,

Clinton Fields

10 domain names and adding more

AUTHOR: Denny - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 04, 2005

sorry to hear that you had a hard time, but my experience with godaddy has been nothing but terrific.

10 domain names and 10 more to be added soon
as for laspsing, why would you let them lapse in the first place? they send you notices about 2 month prior to expiration then another notice at 1 month then a notice every few days until you renew.

Also, they dont put your domain name "automatically" up for auction. One domain name i had expired and I was able to renew it 2 weeks after its expiration ( financial trouble at the time).

seems your story is full of holes.

Why were you trying to 'capture' your own domain?

AUTHOR: Jason - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 04, 2005

Seems to me, that the simplest thing to do would be to transfer your domain. Unless you owed the other registrar money and were trying to pull an end around to avoid paying those charges.

It costs $7.95 to transfer a domain, and that includes an extra year, so if you legitimately owned the domain, and there were no holds on it by the existing registrar, then that was the way to go.

Their policy on expired domain names states nothing about auctions, in fact, here it is..

If you fail to renew your domain name, you agree that Go Daddy may, at its sole discretion, renew your expired domain name on your behalf. If Go Daddy decides to renew your expired domain name on your behalf you will have a Renewal Grace Period during which you may reimburse Go Daddy for the renewal and keep your domain name. The Renewal Grace Period is currently 12 days but subject to change under the terms of Section 2 of this Agreement.

If you do not reimburse Go Daddy for the renewal during the Renewal Grace Period your domain name will be placed on Hold and flagged for deletion after which you will have a 30 day Redemption Grace Period during which you may pay Go Daddy a Redemption fee and redeem your domain name. The Redemption fee is currently $80 USD and is subject to change under the terms of Section 2 of this agreement.

If you do not redeem your domain name prior to the end of the Redemption Grace Period Go Daddy may, at its sole discretion, delete your domain name or transfer it to another registrant on your behalf.
