I finally found a home that I  loved. The asking price was in the 90,000's. The bid was 65,000 but they would accept 100,000 as a final bid. I told my realtor to go ahead and put in the top bid.

She called me back and said she didn't think I wanted to do it because they wanted 5,000 up front and wanted a bank loan approval without right of inspection. And if they decided you didn't get the bid they get to keep the money it is non refundable.

What a scam. You can't get your loan approved without inspection and from what I've read about this company you could put in the bid they said they would take and then you still don't get the property but lose your escrow. How many people lose their money to this company? I think someone should step in and put a stop to their scams. Normal people want homes. I wanted that home but am not pursuing it because I can't get a loan under these circumstances and I can't afford to lose 5,000.

I have been looking for several years and am very disappointed that no one can stop this practice from happening.

Sorry To Hear That

AUTHOR: Investorman - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, January 13, 2013

Sorry to hear you had a problem with Altisource/GoHoming. I bought a home off their site October 2011 and was thrilled. Super deal, smooth transaction (cash), no problems at all. Purchase price $37,000 for a home I will put $25,000 into and rent out for $750 easy. I stick to rehab and rent/flip and Tax Liens and am just starting to look for another house now. I will be careful. There are a lot of thieves out there and you have to be careful and DO NOT RELY ON THESE COMPANIES FOR ANYTHING ACCEPT THE PROPERTY ADDRESS. There are a bunch of free ways to do your due dilligence and it is worth the time financially and emotionally to take the time to do it, and thoroughly. I live in Tennessee and one home I bought is in Illinois. I bought it from a scam company called Empower Group LLC/Peoperty 23. Now that was a RipOff Company. Anything with the names Joe Kewish, Kate Anderson and Sean Whalen I wouldn't trust babysitting an anvil. It turned out OK, though, it just took a LOT more work to save the project. Property23 bought the property for $16K and I bought it from them for $21K. I put $30 into it and it has been rented out for almost 2 years for $825/mo. The ONLY thing that concerns me about this home now is it is in a very depressed neighborhood of East St. Louis. After a major rehab it turned out OK, but from now on I plan to keep my rentals closer to home. No more than a two hour drive. The stress of not being able to check things out, even if you have people you can trust, is just too much. Anyway, thanks for the heads up on GoHoming/Huzbu. I may use them, butI will keep my eye on them. Remember, NEVER take the first offers and read ALL the terms and fees. NEGOTIATE!

My Rebuttal as it should have originally posted

AUTHOR: Fred A - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 12, 2012

GoHoming.com is owned and run by mortgage banker crooks under the name:

Altisource Solutions, Inc.
2015 Vaughn Road Bldg 400
Kennesaw, GA 30144

Its US operations are highly illegal.

GoHoming is neither follwing a bona fide auction process nor a legal real estate transaction process in its online sales of abandoned and repossessed homes, and as such they are breaking the law in most states by posting the (fake?) real estate offers publicly for each house in an illegal "auction-like" style which violates the fairness rules of genuine real estate auctions.

In most areas of the country, real estate is deliberately being kept off the market by the banks such that they are creating an artificial shortage of houses in order to force people who are looking for houses to get into endless bidding wars with the bankers' online scams like www.GoHoming.com.  People typically pay thousands of dollars above market price for an often abandoned house they have never seen.

In a legal real estate action, the bidders are supposed to meet at a location and bring their checks with them. Everyone meets in the same room face to face and you know who you are bidding against.  In a bona fide real estate auction, if no one outbids you in a few seconds the house is YOURS and it is typically 20% below the market.

Whereas Gohoming.com, is running an illegal process as they are simply taking in offers and announcing them publicly and waiting for days for a higher bid to appear while everyone waits. They are illegally controlling the sale and you do not know if you are really bidding against a real person with real money or just some fake account on the internet. They keep this going for as long as they want, with no limit. This is not how legal real estate auctions work.

Furthermore, the houses in question were deliberately prevented from short selling by the same banks and legal firms in order to force the original owners to foreclose and face repossession of their home which then ends up on their GoHoming web site.

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS SCAM! This is a huge nationwide con scam run by www.GoHoming.com's big bank operators that the state governments have so far not tried to stop - and these con artists are helping the banks artificially inflate the price of housing by taking advantage of the phony shortage created by banks keeping EVERYTHING off the market and tying up short sales for months, and even YEARS in order to screw both buyers and sellers.
