We received an aggressive sales pitch from Going Green LLC (www.GoingGreenLandscapeLighting.com) with sky is the limit promises along the way.  They went through a temporary lighting demonstration to give the impression this is a well established company ready to do what it takes to make you happy but their hotmail.com email address, shabby website, and mom and pop cell phone service line children crying in the background quickly revealed this company was one to be cautious of when dealing with.

Before any work began we demanded the company create a contract as it was clear this was a fly by the seat of your pants operation.  We paid for half the work we contracted for prior to the install and there was an agreement the installation would be completed by a specific date.  For the record, that date is currently two months ago and the installation still isnt complete!  Even after the contract was signed the sales pressure about manufacturer discounts continued and we were time and time again convinced to get more lights, a better timer, a more advanced remote, and to zone out our lights so that we would have wireless control.  There was always some sort of pitch like if we buy this they'll give us this at no cost.  There was even some sort of complicated sales pitch about how they could give us all these discounts and lights because the manufacture was paying for all the labor.  This made us quite nervous but we were hopeful this small company would deliver a quality solution and it would be fine in the end.  How wrong we were!

Just when our nerves were starting to get tweaked and concerns were growing the Going Green LLC (www.GoingGreenLandscapeLighting.com) cracks started to show BIG TIME.  All the sudden we were starting to get requests to pay for services and lights that were "add ons."  They didnt honor our request to put these add ons in writing with additional contracts and terms but instead kept saying we were under a service contract with them and if even the slightest thing went wrong theyd be out 24x7 to service our landscape lighting system. When things really started getting crazy is when our payments were starting to be required prior to the lights and services be rendered.  In fact there was such high pressure on us one day that during the installation repair work efforts we got a knock on the door from their owner requesting we immediately pay so they could run to the bank and make a deposit.  We were even asked to help them find the local branch of Stop & Shop as I presume that is where they bank.

Unfortunately, at this point it was clear Going Green LLC (www.GoingGreenLandscapeLighting.com) was offering one thing and delivering another.  To this day weve not gotten what was contracted for, weve incurred costs to repair our damaged property damaged, and have had to hire another company that knows nothing about the lights we were sold.  If we didnt not only would the installation be incomplete but not operational.

In the event that you think we were nave or difficult to deal with as a customer, we tried more than once to keep the project on task and reduce the Going Green LLC (www.GoingGreenLandscapeLighting.com) over selling promises.  The lead designer is a wife who sits at home with a child and the lead technician is a husband that is completely disorganized and overextended.  No matter how much we tried to get the company to deliver when they came on site they either lacked staff because they dont have any or they lacked tools and supplies because they dont have them.  Runs to Home Depot, the local hardware store, and electrical supply were how most of the time was spent on site, not actually digging the wires in and doing the installation.  In fact, on several instances our tools, supplies, and even our labor was required to get the job done.  Even with all this involvement our three year old daughter is still picking up garbage all over the yard from their professional installation that will leave your gardens looking better than they did prior to your arrival.  Sadly enough, what should have been a ONE DAY JOB has now taken well over two months so I fear for anyone that actually has a good sized job, it will never get done, youll constantly be paying this company for repair work and of course investing your time as Ive had to as a means of making things right.

At this point weve been forced after several email and phone conversations to join two Angie's Lists, log this complaint and find that they practice without a license and have felonies in their history.  We buillt a website (www.goinggreencustomerreviews.com) to show photos, email dialogues, and pictures of the mess that was made on our property, and we had our attorney file a complaint with the small claims court in Stamford, Connecticut but this company and the individual partners have been sued before.  The list of judgment holders that they owe money to is daunting.  The worst part of all this is that we had to hospitalize my father-in-law as a result of a broken rib he incurred falling on the entrance steps to our garden.  The lighting wasnt completed for Thanksgiving and no matter how many times we requested that it be completed the company ignored us...

Clearly the company is a "small mom and pop shop" so buyer beware, they're trying to make a go at it, selling big homes in Fairfield County and seem to talk a lot about big sales they've got going on elsewhere.  Their website doesn't show the work they claim in proportion to the statements they make during sales efforts and theyll put in your contract that they have the right to photograph the installation as a way of trying to get you to show a positive experience.  What they wont mention is that they dont have a photographer and they want you do help them with the pictures as that is what was requested of us when I mentioned it would be good to schedule the photographs in the Spring with the trees in bloom.  What we know for sure as a result of calling other references is that this is a struggling business and theyre likely to be out of business in less than a year.  If you value your service contract keep this in mind, its useless.  When they wont finish your install its hard to imagine theyre coming out to replace a bulb!

We made consolations to their clearly overextended situation in more ways than I can list and in the end their cash flow is likely getting the better of them.  When we sustained damage to our newly installed pergola and demanded that they repair it and pay our fence contractor the rubber really hit the road.  They said they would pay our contractor and come finish the job but when they showed up they didnt have any money, tools, and got in a screaming match with us yet again.  Weve been left paying for this subcontractor and yet again this company showed it's true colors.  If youve any doubt or lack of clarity regarding my experience feel free to contact me at the website (www.goinggreencustomerreviews.com) for further details, photos, and well do what we can to ensure youre not taken advantage of as we have been.

If this service of Angie's List is as good as so many say it is and as important to companies like this one maybe being left with no choice but to go to Angie's List, the BBB and small claims court to resolve these matters is a good thing, it will improve the Going Green LLC (www.GoingGreenLandscapeLighting.com - they pulled the website when we started posting factual information about them and filed a small claims case so where they are now online we don't know) business operations and delivery methodologies.  We suspect these routes wont produce results for us to be made whole as weve several voice mails and emails revealing amazingly poor customer service standards.  Again, see the website (www.goinggreencustomerreviews.com) for further details and well forward on the voice mails if you request as a way to really open your eyes!
