About a month ago I went to the local Golden Corral to eat lunch.

I had the buffet plus a soda pop to drink.

The pop did not taste right so I said something to the waitress for our table. She brought me another pop but that one tasted the same as the first one, just nasty.

So I then said something to a man who works there, I am not sure what his position is as I have seen him cleaning off talbles, etc.

He said he would check on it and then came back about 10 minutes later saying the pop machine at the front was acting up. He never offered me a refund, I guess I should of asked him for a refund on the pop but I did not think of it till after we left.

I think they should of given my money back for the bad soda pop. I will never go to a Golden Corral anywhere again.

You are better to just get the glass of ice water for free instead of paying almost $2 for a glass of bad tasting pop.

I will file complaint with the Better Business Bureau also.

If your soda tasted bad the first time, and the second soda tasted bad as well, the reason is the syrup in the box. If the box wasn't changed in the kitchen then it doesn't matter what machine your refill comes from, since one syrup box likely flavors each soda tower.

Maybe try water?? All you can eat at a restaurant with a name that makes me think of cattle is certainly not the healthiest thing you can do!! And do you think a busboy gives a crap that your soda tastes bad? He actually probably cares more than the BBB.

I bet you left a $1 tip, too. Maybe even 50 cents.

Buffet people, in general, are gross. Not all, but lots. And complain about stupid, little things.

I agree.

The pop they serve at the Golden Corral in Findlay, Ohio is of poor quality.

the syrup is adjustable on the fountain type machines and apparently they must have it turned down to the lowest possible level so it emits just a small taste of the pop into the carbonated water.

Drinks are their big money or profit maker there.   They keep raising the price of beverages, now its over $2.00 for a glass of soda that probably costs them just pennies to produce.

I do not leave any tip if I do go there as I feel I have to get the food, the waitress does not provide this service.  All they are there for is to take the dirty dishes away and maybe bring a drink if they remember to ask.

The Corral could lower their prices by getting rid of the waitresses and provide a place for people to take their dirty dishes to and also a self serve soda pop area where people can get their own drinks.  A lot of other places do it that way and no one complains.

Golden Corral is a low grade restaraunt and I am sure the quality of their food is too.

The one time I was there you could see thru the crack inbetween the chicken broiler back into the kitchen area and there were chicken parts laying all over the floor, its almost like they clean the chickens and thru the scraps onto the floor for later cleanup.  This has been reported to the local health department for investigation. 

I rate the place a 1 on a 5 star scale and that is being generous.

First of all,  how can they offer you a refund when you dont say anything to the mgr?   by the way  MGR  is short for Manager.    

You seem to lack basic common sense here. 

You filed a rip off report over  bad tasting soda.    Ok  If it tasted that bad you should have asked for a refund. 

1.  People are not mind readers!

2.  You need to act like you have some common sense instead of a chicken with its head cut off.

3.  Im sure  this all confuses you.

4.  Do not breed or have children  the world is full of  stupid people,  we don't need more.

5.  Do you get it yet,   This is Your fault for not asking for a refund on your bad tasting soda!       

6 Perhaps you need Jenny Craig?

Horrible Tasting Pop. It is not Pepsi

The pop they serve there is not a Pepsi Product even though the machine says it is.  It does not taste like Pepsi at all. They need to either adjust the syrup mixture or go with  Coca Cola or another vendor if Pepsi cannot provide them a product that tastes like Pepsi should.

The waitress was not about to offer you a refund because she is not empowered to offer OR give refunds!!! Only management can make the determination as to whether someone will receive a refund. Waitstaff at most places cannot go around saying "Oh, would you like your money back on that? because they don't know if the manager is going to approve it or not!!!!  As in any job, each position has it limitations.  I am a paralegal and despite how hard clients try when they talk to me, I cannot and will not give them legal advice.  Only an attorney can do that! See how this all works?  So, bottom line: next time you have a restaurant complaint, make sure you are wearing your big boy undies and ASK for the manager!!!!

I would of never writeen this complaint about Golden Corral in Findlay, Ohio had it not been for the poor customer service I got there as described in my complaint.

Serously..it was a DRINK that didn't taste right to you. Exactly what did they put you through?

If the drink does not taste right the second time you bring it up with the waitress or ask for the manager. Just how are they supposed to know something was still wrong and that you would like a refund unless you tell them. As was said before they are not mind readers.

By the way at any time since this occurred have you attempted to talk to the manager at the location? Again they are not mind readers and would have no idea that "Borninohio" was upset and posted a complaint on the Internet instead of (oh my gosh) actually talking to the business directly. Do Not Eat at the Golden Corral

Please do not eat at the Golden Corral and have to go thru what I did and the poor customer service. Plus their food quality has gone downhill since they opened up here in Findlay a couple years ago. I wish the Ryans would open back up to give the Corral some real competition.

You told the waitress the first pop didn't taste right. She got you another. It didn't taste right. Instead of telling her again or asking for the manager, you told the busboy it didn't taste right. Then you didn't follow up with the waitress or a manager but you expected them to read your mind and know the second one wasn't good either and to offer a refund. Do I have it right?
Since the $2 is so important to you, you should have followed up with the waitress and/or asked for a manager. Since you didn't tell the waitress the second was as bad as the first, how is she supposed to know? Since you didn't ask for a manager how was he/she supposed to know there was a problem?
It's amazing. For a $2 soda, you didn't feel it was worth the effort to talk with the waitress again or ask for a manager but you find it necessary to post a report here and file with the BBB. And exactly what pray tell do you expect the BBB to do about your report? I bet it makes the rounds to bring a few laughs but I'd be surprised if you even get a form letter returned to you let alone anything sent to the company.

In my opinion the waitress or the manager should of offered either something else to drink or a refund. The customer should not have to ask for a refund when the waitress or manager knows that I already complained about the drink twice.

If Golden Corral wants to keep customers then they should do whatever it takes to make the customers visit a pleasant one.

Its not the price of the drink that I am complaining about its how bad the soda tasted, and the second glass tasted just as bad as the first one. I only took a small sip of each one and never drank anymore. The waitress should of offered me even a glass of water and then I would not be complaining here.

Also, the food quality has gone down hill since they first opened. Its either they changed cooks or the quality of the food they purchase from their suppliers. Overall I will not be going back to the Golden Corral in Findlay nor do I recommend the place to anyone. Ryans had much better food than Golden Corral will ever have.

yes they should have given you a refund. EXCEPT you didn't ask for a refund.

having worked in retail I never offered a refund to a customer until that customer ASKED me for a refill.

So you just complained about it, but never asked for a refund then? That would be your bad.

What is the BBB going to do?

Nothing. If you had asked for a refund and then they refused, perhaps they would do something. Why do people put up with bad service and not complain and ask for a refund?
